It'd be a toss up between Infantry and Armoured. It is scary to think that if I was born during that time period, I would surely have served, no questions asked, as it is my nature. I attempted to join the Canadian Military but was turned down because of my hearing (Their standards are incredibly high) and was then offered a chance to join the American Military (Standards pretty damn low in comparison). I turned it down in favour of a Degree in Civil Engineering, figuring that it was a better choice then fighting for a country I didn't grow up in.

Airborne!!!
The only other unit I might have joined would have been the Rangers...but theres just something about jumping out of a perfectly good airplane....*IF you haven't done it, I highly suggest it!!*

I've always wanted to be in the airforce. Not a gunner in a bomber, but flyin my own single engine airplane.

Ninja wasn't a category....so infantry of course. Straight out plain leg infantry - the ones that win wars.

If I was to fight in a war, I would be infantry. If I was to be in peace time airborne, cause whats better than jumping out of airplanes for practice?

Infantry, but if I was in Russia, KGB (or NKVD). I am attracted to unlimited power. Of course, I'm Jewish, so....the whole, SS thing probably wouldn't have happened for me.

The NKVD killed Jews. But eh.
Naval Infantry. That's basically the Marine Corps for some countries. Now I am gonna go cry. Germans had Coastal Artillery and Coast Police. Basically a Coast Guard. Come on, get with it!
Anywho.

For me it's wasn't hypothetical INFANTRY the queen of battle. Airborne and Ranger school were Both required courses in my day for regular Army combat arms branches.
I'm old but I'm still incredibly slow!
I'm proud to have eaten snakes and jumped out of perfectly good airplanes (ALOT!) Hooah!

answering the question. i would probably be in mecahnised infantry division Infantry, but if I was in Russia, KGB (or NKVD). I am attracted to unlimited power. Of course, I'm Jewish, so....the whole, SS thing probably wouldn't have happened for me. im jewish too, but I act non-biased towards the actual history ( but i still wouldnt be SS) . ive looked into it somewhat, but i just dont understand the purpose of the SS, besides being a completely seprate army under hitler's direct control. What is the basic difference in regular Heer units and SS units?

NKVD was not as good as it was made out to be, unfortunately. Not gonna go into it, though. But still, I'd be Coast Guard. Fools forgot to add that.

;DSeeing as my family was located throughout all of italy during that time Id probably would of joined the Italian SS. Nothing towards any types of people or thinking Im a much superior being, I probably would of just joined the most organized, most powerful and best equipped force. Oh until mussolini is executed then just surrender. ;D Schutze

ah crap I accidently deleted my own post. To summarize, I don't recall the Italian SS committing too many atrocities. The germans forced one concentration camp that I know of (have to double check the name of the camp) but Italians weren't too enthusiastic about the camp. I have an account of Italian bombers that attacked Palestine in protection of Jewish settlements. It's an interesting story, but most components of the Italian SS were stationed in Africa, and after the armistace sent off to russia. No real involvment with Jewish exterminations--not that I know of.
EDIT - sorry Frank, we are editing off eachothers posts lol! I got my infor screwed up slightly. The bombings of palestine were to cripple the oil industries supplying The Allies. The Vatican was the safehouse for Jews

They secretly hid Jews. People criticize Pope Pius for not speaking out, but he saved more Jews by not speaking out against Hitler, than if he did, becuase had he spoken out, Not only him, but everybody in the vatican (all of the jews he was hiding aswell) would have died. I read it in the book, "War in Italy:1943-45" by Richard Lamb.
I agree with the Italian SS, they were a major component of Rommel's Afrika Corps, and I probably would have gone into the SS too, had I been in Italy at the time. I would actually be in America at the time, but hypothetically if I were in italy I would choose SS as well...

AIRBORNE BABY!!! I'd want to be a pathfinder because of my super-duper good navigational skills, now if I could only find my house ... but seriously, I'd want to be a pathfinder. However had I been German I would want to be a Panzergrenader.

Yes, but SS is coming in a very close 2nd. You don't see many guys jumping and screaming for that splinter zeltbahn! Anyways, this is not the place to discuss such matters, so I'll yank my own chain here.
