well, they did say that the commie government raided their factory. That probably pushed back their schedule more than they want to admit.

Looking good, i think we might just have a chance that it will go into full production, looking at the fact that is full metal+wood i think. That probably means they are beyond merely evaluating whether or not they want to produce it, but are entering final stages of sorting out the bugs in the manufacturing process. Also, what board did you get that from? Just becuase i like reading all about the guns, not just the pretty pictures. ;D

As far as looks go, the prototype is already great. Three months should be enough time for AGM to fix any imperfections. The only thing that could ruin this AEG is if its going to cost as much as its Shoei counterpart. Anyone know the predicted sales price, also how is the full metal chinease MG42 doing?

The only issue I see here is that if it comes out and it is cheap (sub300.00USD level) then we will see the same thing we have on the US side. everyone running around with a Thompson. Soon WW2 airsoft will be nothing but Thompsons vs Stg44's and MP40's It will end up looking a little like a SciFi Chanel war movie...On the other hand I can't wait for one of these to come out. I'm conflicted.

I would rather see guys toting period correct weapons of any type rather than m4's and Ak's. maybe having something 'cool' will get more guys interested. I know that WWII airsoft in my area stands absolutely no chance of growing as long as the weapons choices remain very limited and relatively expensive for both sides.

I'm conflicted. I agree with that, although since i have wanted an STG for so long that to a point i really don't care. If only we could get Cyma to convert its M14 to an m1 garand (not too hard, much of it is already there) then we could get more allied weapons. And even if it turns out there wont be any other guns coming out, at least there will be a little more variety than just two specific guns. I think though, if this gun subsequently sells like hotcakes like the mp40 and Thompson did, then we might have a chance for more guns coming out, as manufactures see a market for them.

It looks like they're giving it the same flat black paint as the MP-40. I was hoping for a more bluish shiny exterior, but I still can hardly complain.

Finish wise anything could be correct. The earlier ones were blued while the later ones did not have a finish at all. So anything from blued to painted to parkerized to aged bare steel will work

It would need to be well under 500.00 to gain my interest. MG42 I would pay 700.00 or under for. That is just the limits I have I am sure anything under 1k and they will sell just not to me.

I'd guess way below that... look at those VFC AKs that Dboys cloned- steel bodies, wood furniture. Instead of $400, its $170. The SAW went from $700-1000+ went to $250
Anyways, I don't think it will be over $400. ACM companies make stuff cheap and pretty well.

I doubt a Chinese company would be willing to make a gun for such an insanely (compared to the average clone) high price. It just wouldn't make sense for these people to make something like that, as i know they aren't stupid, and AGM probably knows that it wont be able to sell something at a high, high end price, becuase of their reputation (not horrid, but still not great), and the anti-clone movement. I see this being higher priced than your average clone though, becuase it required a lot of brand new R&D and looks to be completely metal. I wonder what the gearbox version is, the v3 would probably fit nicely, however interestingly, the slope of the handgrip is different, and actually spot on for a v6, so possibly a v3 with modified motor mount, or maybe a v2, i don't know.

Well with an AK or M4 I can have them shoot semi auto and have a good argument. Now imagine half the people show up with Tommies and Stg44/Mp40's suddenly you have went from what was realistic mostly semi auto fire with a smattering of full auto to everyone in the battle being a full auto rambo. So it is a real give and take on the game itself sure it is a great replica that we all want to come to fruition but I don't want to see every game become a full auto slug fest.

The Hong Kong Toys & games fair is here next week (5th - 8th) I know lots of the Airsoft guys will be there. Hopefully I can see some new progress on some WW2 airsoft products and updates when I visit. Stay tuned

Knowing AGM, I think that the MP44 is going to be relativley low priced. The MP44 is an assault rifle, and AGM has made plenty of them ranging in under the $200 range. The MG42, I can't really predict, because it will be the first LMG they've made.
For the plastic wood version, it would have to be under $200 to interest me. For the real wood version, I'd say under $350-300.

Just don't allow any speedloaders on the field! Think about it. Reloading mags in-field by hand one round at a time will definitely cut back on the spray and pray. ;D

Well with an AK or M4 I can have them shoot semi auto and have a good argument. But the STG-44 was selective fire too. Just limit it to semi-auto and that would be a way to control too much full auto action. Whatcha gonna do? Limit what people can buy? No. But you might decide as a group that squad members have to bring a primary weapon to use (rifle or smg) and allow them to use their STG if something fails. That's probably what we'll do with MOA events if they become all MG affairs. The historical accuracy will need to be forced back into it. Not to ruin fun but to ensure it. Players will just alternate from event to event what they will use as their main weapon.

Until easily available, affordable and truly skirmish ready M1 Garands, Mausers, Springfields etc are available, guys are gonna buy what is out there. Or they will just continue to ignore WWII airsoft and go play with their modern replica's. Time will tell if we really need to worry about whole squads of MP44 toting krauts, or if the issue will resolve itself.

Unfortunately CharleyNovember, the movement towards all autos is unfortunately natural. If I may speak about my experience as a modern era airsofter: Out of a group of 60, I am the only individual that uses a bolt rifle BY CHOICE. Its an M24 upgraded to 600 fps, but anyway the reason I'm pretty much the only semi shooter is because its really intimidating when 1) you can't suppress a charging squad of autos, 2) you can't handle more than 2 individuals at once, and 3) you can't provide cover fire : ( . Most airsoft snipers have abandoned the bolts because of these reasons...people simply wanna win...dominate over the opposition so that they are envied; which doesn't happen anyway! Their bush whacking tactics, what I call Ramboing has no class but its still very effective: (bush whacking is a move I personally think has no skill involved: "you think someone is in a bush/shrubbery so you open auto fire all over until you hit something".) Bringing it back to the Mp44 and WWII now, I bet if the Wehrmacht had a full supply of Mp44s the Germans would mostly have used it. As I see it, if it weren't for the MG42 and 34 providing suppressive fire on the battlefield...the German soldiers would not poke out to fire their accurate kar98ks against the semi-auto barrage of the M1 Garands and Carbines; even the darn Thompson was seen as a greater threat then the Mp40. Same basically transfers to airsoft: autos will win over the majority because their more effective in the majority of scenarios. Now I’m not “putting down” the weaponry of the Wehrmacht, their weapons are by far amazing and beautifully artistic which you don’t see anymore in modern warfare where everything looks cube and box-like.
Like you I’m torn, I want this weapon to come out for the sake of it finally being available to the average consumer, but on the other hand I really think your nightmare of Thompsons & Grease guns vs. Mp40s and Mp44s might indeed become reality. I like the one magazine for auto’s idea…another one I thought of was perhaps set a battery voltage and upgrading limit so that autos don’t completely out fire and out reach the accurate bolts.

Yes I totally agree with you Polski. I am happy there making an affordable MP44 but I would still like to see Kar98's dominate the field. I am really pushing away all full auto weapons in my unit and so far its going ok.

Well Full auto games is a turn in the wrong direction..Maybe the game organizers should asign wepon slots to each team to tone down the Rambo level.. Still going to buy one if it ever gets out..Its such a classic assault rifle..

The best game organizer out there can't control the manner in which people play but by designing the right event atmosphere you can greatly infuence the manner in which MOST will play. A well run historical event with appearnce standards and either ammo limits or magazine limitations tends to attract people who are more into the atmosphere and authenticity than the "We're here to win" mindset. The result is an event that isn't for the typical airsoft player but appeals to a definite segment. This segmnet thankfully is growing and the increased number of available choices when it comes to weaponry will enhance that growth considerably.
I'm not into German weapons at all and my impressions are decidedly US oriented but I must say this is a weapon I will want to add to me arsenal along with my home made Kar 98, an MP 40 and all my US guns. It's just a classic. It's also fortunate that they came out late in the war and in such limited numbers. The mag capacity, rate of fire and rifle ammunition made for an extremely formidable weapon. This thing had range accuracy, volume of fire and penetrating power in a relatively small weapon. Many consider it the first assault weapon.
