Very nice pictures, thanks for sharing One quick correction; It's an Obersturmführer (you can see the rank pip on his shoulder board)

I believe Wiking had alot of army camo, including alot of Heer zeltbahns (featured in a 1944 deutche wochenshau), also very late in the war, Heer units got ahold of oak camo. We knew a vet from the 352 volks grenadeir div, who had a jacket tailor made from a large stock of oak material aquired by the division, he said the war was almost over when that occoured though. Id bet the pictures you found were Wiking troops. -Gordak

Clearly all these pics are faked because SS never used lowly Wehrmacht splinter camo and they would not allow anyone who was not of pure Arion decent to wear SS camo. LOL
;D
PS - I'm being sarcastic...and great pics!

It is interesting that 3 of them have a spare pair of boots attached to their packs

Interesting ~ The all seem to have an extra set of low boots. I would have thought uncommon during the last years of the war.

I would like to know more of the unit story. In the one picture with the one not wearing his parka he does not have a cuff title. It is the second one down. Maybe all new recruits fresh from training If you look at the picture where they are getting into the back of the truck some of them appear to be wearing to wool topped cold weather boots. It is the third picture down. perhabs they have both types of boots it is cold so they are wearing the warmer boots? edit here is a link to the type of boots www.atthefront.com/g_boot_winter_boots.jpg

Dot mittens arent very common either are they?
Werent gas capes uncommon by that point as well?
Those photos have aged remarkably well too.

Amazing pictures, So clear I almost thought they were fake. Those kids look so young, yes very sad.
Zbear is right, they are probably wearing schnee shue,
Binary I think the Dot gloves you see are home made knit gloves, funny, they actually do kinda go with the cammo.
I have a collection of wierd SS pictures, need to go find them.

Yes, those came from Mil-photo's. I generally try to stay away from that site as it seems to be heavily populated by smurftards. I was doing some web surfing for 12th SS pics and stumbled across the SS photos thread. Of the 101 pages in that thread, at least half of them are the usual Guy on a short bused socio-political arguments that are so common on that site. Anyhow, These photos are amusing. ;D Yo dude, spark me. And don't turn that dial. It time for the 'Sing along with Adolf hour'. Who said krauts don't know how to party?? Moe, Larry, Curly and Shemp.. And yes, even back then guys couldn't pass up a good photo op.

I hardly read anything there, I just look at the photos!! It is a great reference for aircraft, tanks, uniforms...you name it!! Just don't read the BS!! In your last group of photos, the third and fourth photo down, the SS are all Auschwitz personal. In the fourth photo, the shot with the big group and the guy playing the accordion on the bridge. The fifth guy from the right, whose face is peaking out just to the left of the accordion player, is Josef Mengele Scary

Ok tell me this dude doesn't look like Gordak? I was thinking more like Col. Klink just for the facial expression! Hoogaaaan! ;D And what's with, not one, but two photo's of four guys carrying MP40's? FARBS! ;D They must be fake photos, we know that didn't happen...

LOL Dan funny AMAZING PICTS! Id never seen the whole platoon of leibermunster! I have yet to find my mother load of wierd ss picts but here are a couple I saw on the net awhile back on Milphotos Hj kid issued an SS sarahana tunic! This one is really cool, because there is a famous picture of a 504 Paratrooper in almost the exact same pose not SS, but proof that Germans used Bofors guns (no secret really) cool color tiger pic Id never seen before Adam Sandler? Very grusome picture of a panther caught in an air attack, some Heer troops were killed while riding and burned up with the tank, Facinating picture for many reasons, Its color, German panzer camo is clearly visable, and "horror of war" you've been warned i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/ww2aa/Gordak/SS/20080701_005.jpg

Another HJ pic. Kinda looks like your typical airsoft event. One old fart surounded by a bunch of kids. ;D Man, this event is sooooo boring. Are we breaking for lunch? Say..that's a pretty nifty looking panzerfaust. Is it gas or spring powered and have you got many kills with it?

Just looking at the photo closely..
None of the soldiers is wearing a helmet Several are not wearing any form of headgear at all. Several men are using walking sticks. None of them are wearing ammunition pouches or carrying a weapon.
That would lead me to think it is a group of soldiers returning home imediately after the war. Most likely in the west since there is no ruble in the streets and no Russians 'escorting' them at bayonet point to their destination.
