BAR progress has stopped and should resume sometime this summer.
The M1 Carbine build has been tough, but I have accomplished a springer carbine. I will start on an AEG Carbine as soon as I can get a small enough gearbox.

pretty soon the CNC will be set up and can start getting used to it. but in the mean time, i will be making these by hand until i get it how i want it. ill have to get an M14, then ill start taking pieces ive made already, put it together, and go from there. as soon as i get any sort of progress i will be sure to get some photos.

So, the process of getting the stupid CNC set up is taking so long, I am going to drop the BAR project for a long time. In the meantime I will be working on M1 Carbines, both spring and AEG. I just need to get a hold of some itty bitty gearboxes.

Computer navigated control. You use a CAD program to make a design you put a block of aluminum in a CNC mill and it follows the design. Sort of an over simple way of describing it but you get the idea.

Has the work been re-started on the B.A.R?
I am really wanting to purcahse one, but don't want to drop 1200$ on a VFC bar. I think there will be a big market for these!

Not yet, soon I hope. I tried another gearbox in the Carbine. (Famas gearbox) It was a no-go. way too big. All that is holding me up now is the gearbox issue and the money issue.

I've built several BARs using a number of approaches (some better than others) I recently started in on three BARs and am fairly far along in the build. I placed photos of my progress up in the technical section. These are not for sale but will be used as rentals for local events. Take a look at the approach. It's time consuming and messy but can result in a very affordable decent looking BAR if you're willing to take on the project yourself.

Well as of now I have tried 3 different gearboxes, and one spring shotgun. The shotgun worked amazingly. But since its pump action, i had to relocate the bar to cock the gun. after about 7 hours, the thing finally broke. I have no idea how to make it work with a bolt on the side. but everything else seems to fit together perfectly. Ill probably make it a prop or something.

well, i have the folding stock done, just needs a little adjusting and ill put it on. I also need to paint the "wood" stock. I hate the location of the "cocking bolt", it looks pretty gay. but from 10 feet you cant tell. and its not skirmishable because of the pain it is to cock every time. but its a fun little gun and it will be a good prop. Here is what it started out as.... here is what happened to the poor thing... I need to move the mag well 1/2 inch back and fill an inch in the front... made all the hardware by hand... front sight I need to change... Ill get the gun hopefully finished tomorrow, and have pics up wednesday.

UPDATE:... So I couldn't sleep, (Lie)... so I put together the folding stock roughly. I still need to smooth out the edges on the buttplate, and get a long ass bolt to use to put the stock on the gun. I also need two more rivets, and a sling. Then make the metal cap thats at the end of the stock, and the sling swivel at the bottom of the grip. Then I'll paint her up, and make some magazines. P.S. sorry for the fuzzy pics, I was in a hurry and the lighting is terrible.

Supplemeted with actual parts like the front and rear site and stained and painted I suspect that will actually look pretty darned good. It'll be intetesting to see what you come up with for magazines.
Always enjoy seeing your efforts.

I believe it uses a V2 gearbox, I tried one and the thing is too tall. I was thinking either an uzi, or Mp7, but I cant find any for cheap. (like $50)

A Well or TM skorpion uses the same gear box as the mp7. It is TINY. It may very well work for your gun. Those well mp7s and skorpions can be had for less then $100. Here is a cool take down of a MP7, should give you an idea of the tiny size of it. www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/index.php?topic=40161.0 I have been thinking doing a folding stock carbine with a skorpion for a while... just needed to finish some stuff before I start any more projects. Looking very good so far. I'm impressed.

I have alot of experiance with the Well Mp-7 and Well Skorpion. I planned on useing them for the Sten MKIII I have been working on so I bought them and the FPS and general performance simply sucks.
The ROF is very low and the FPS is low as well, a gas pistol outperforms both guns. However there is a light at the end of the tunnel, the TM version of either gun works amazingly!!!! TMs guns fire very well and have good ROF and FPS, the down side is they cost twice as much as the Well versions.

If all else fails (I'll hide behind a few sandbags before saying this) maybe consider an AEP. I've heard good things about the CYMA Glock which runs around 40 bucks. Of course that would mean giving up FPS but hey at least it would fit as a last resort...

Well, you could always do a fullstock carbine first... That way you can use the version 7 gearbox.

Yes, that was a possibility. but i figured why not get a gearbox, small enough i don't have to do a huge amount of cutting in a stock.

Well, look at it this way...after my quick story... My father and I know how to make an airsoft SKS using version 7 or version 3. The cutting in the stock would be a bit yes but your manufacturing an entire gun. I disagree with the way your going about this...We had the inital design based on converting realsteel SKS rifles over to airsoft just because we knew that they would never break and the quality would be consistant. But it looks as though converting real steel over is the answer. Actually it's not. Get a real walnut stock somewhere off of the internet, both full and paratrooper verison's. Then start going from there, you may find that it is easier than you think...Sure the finished product may cost a bundle to buy but hell I'd buy it...BTW I found this....They call it a shot gun but really it's a carbine just done up. www.airsoftmegastore.com/NEW_Tactical_P1159_Sawed_Off_Shotgun_w_Flashlight_p/fs-1159.htmAlso once you start from the realsteel stock, your dealing then with real dimensions. That people love to see. In theory you should be able to use the socom 16 for parts. They are roughly the same length.

very interesting find audiemurphy. At the least the magazines probably have some potential for use in an AEG Carbine. I'm also thinking of undertaking this project. I might have to take the dive and order a "shotgun" and see how the mag is. The whole thing seems to be a copy of the Marushin Enforcer.
EDIT: Shipping is a rob, maybe i won't....

Yes, its just I dont have the money do buy stocks to cut up and have them not work. but that shotgun carbine thing looks much easier than what im trying.
