how about instead of being from the American side, they change the perspective and do a mini series from the german side of the war

Did anyone suggest a series based on Guy Sajer's "The Forgotten Soldier" yet? Plenty of material there. One problem with doing the German side for an Anglo-American audience is the politics. I expect there's still more than a few people who would be upset with German soldiers being portrayed as anything except "the Bad Guys."

I've always wanted to see different outfits highlighted in a series. You could focus on a theme or particular battleground like the Battle of the Bulge and then highlight true stories from individual companies within a division. You could skip back and forth between the Pacific and ETO. Shoot, you could do Navy and AAF episodes as well. I work at the National Archives on WWII stuff and I see movie worthy stuff every day.

there is a new mini series that follows the story of five Germans from the evening before operation barbarossa to the fall of Berlin. very good stuff but not perfect. the title is unser mutter unser vater, eine andere zeit..(our mothers and fathers another time)
