Hi guys,
I would like to avoid as much as possible opening the gearbox.
I was so wondering if it is really vital to remove the full/semi auto selector plate and the intermittent electric lever? If one removes the selector switch, is it really important to remove the pieces in the gearbox, or can one simply set the selector to fully auto then remove the switch and bondo over it ?
In my opinion, the answer should be yes... but in fact I'm not sure of if and I realy would have like to know before trying anything.
Oni.

Back to fake-bake contributions, here is my (old) attempt at it! I used Burnt Umber color for base, and then mottled black spots on it with a sponge that I later smudged out with a dry one until the grips were almost dark-brown. Put some clear coat on it, sandpapered, more clear coat and finally brushed it with some steel wool. My MP40 has been sold for a while now, but it was a fun project and the colors came out very much like the ones on my old radio from the 50'ies...
