Has anybody inquired about extra mags as of yet? I'm looking for a second as a back-up in case one fails and am wondering what they might cost.

I may be wrong, but shouldn't the Lipo just plug into the same connection as a NiCad or NiMh? My AGM Sten and my Viva Sten, both came with Lipo batteries, both have two power cords. One powers the gun and uses standard connectors. The AGM came with Tamiya and the Viva had Deans. I switched the AGM to Deans...just because. The other cable is a 4-wire charging cord and IS radically different than a normal power supply connection that goes to the gun. Do some Lipo batteries just come with the 4-wire plug? PS:I'm jealous

sir veilance,
Your talking about two plugs on the LiPo battery correct? If so, it sounds like that is a multi-cell pack and the 4 wire plug is for balancing during charging.
If it's on the gun side I haven't a clue.

Sir V - You are right of course. If the Lipo has Deans then the jack on the gun needs a deans. If the Lipo is Tamiya equipped than you need not change anything. When I tried Lipo's (icky) I changed to a deans connector. But its all in making the connectors match. The gun comes with Tamiya mini connectors. Jeez - you and kalbs. What's all this jealousy about. Don't hate me because I have a PPsh-41. Hate me because I have a PPsh-41 and a battery to shoot it. Lev- (you used to be Udo, no?) I'd PM Maxim about an extra magazine. It would be nice to have one. I bet they will cost though.

kalbs - coke can chrono results are
through both sides of a can (just barely)
does not go through the bottom of can but breaks the aluminum there.
This is on the semi-auto function. For some reason, (static friction?) the FPS I think goes up a little on full auto.
My guess is 350-FPS.

Sounds perfect EJ. Remember to clean your inner barrel. They always come from the China factory dirty.

hey bros, Forget the spare hi-cap, and I am making the mid cap drums instead!! It`s in production already, 2 more months to go!! Also the stick mag will be 3 more months I think, I still didnt hand in the sample to the plastic factory..... and about the "Lipo ready" issue, I test every gun by a 11.1 12c lipo, so if you can find some Lipo with small plug instead of Dean (T-plug), you can use it without modification. some more tips IF your drum mag doesnt feed well: (1) Loosen the rear screw of the drum mag. (2) The axis of the drum MAY touch the gear wheel of the mag sometimes, you can simply turn the axis clockwise slightly, then the mag will feed again. Enjoy! Max

Maxim,
So good to have you on this site checking on things and providing us with the latest. Thanks for your suypport of WW2 airsoft! The gun is awesome. In my case it's perfect for my early war NVA / VC impression.

Picked up mine today. Maxim is correct that there are some teething problems with the magazine as well as the selector switch. Stick mags would be great for this model. Again I have to say aesthetically this AEG is awsome. I need to tear into it to see what I find but that will be another post.

There are a few issues with the gun. One is the selector and the other is the Magazine. I'll try and post some pics later (my evening) on how to get it all going. In the meantime try a battery with higher mAh. I uses a lipoly so I get higher mAh and voltage. If not then I'll show you how to address the selector

The mag seems ok right now. The only issues I have are the batteries are hard to get in,very tight. All I have right now are 1100 and 1200Mah batteries,as I don't use minis too much in my other guns. The first battery I used,a 1200mah,the rate of fire seemed slow, and the battery kinda pooped out after a few bursts. I THINK I have a 1200mah in now and the ROF is much higher.

The spring is rated at about 1.4j so a low voltage/mAh battery may not be able to handle the spring. lately lots of AEG's use the smaller batteries so I've switched to the Lipolies just because of this. I use a king arms 11.1v/ 2200 mAh in mine it fits great. ROF is high but I just use short bursts.

Where can I get the one you use?

No Bob, they are much smaller. The nice thing about a Lipoly is they charge like a Phone, you don't need to discharge and charge time for an empty battery is about 1 to 2 hours max (depending on how empty and size). You need a lipoly charger as well but they are inexpensive. I fine the AK sticks are good to a have, some MP40 size and the largerones for full stocks. A good place to look is UN Company which gives size info. Look here for info: www.uncompany.com/pageproduct.asp?L3catid=291

I have two new 1600 mah Intellects and they scream with the PPSh. The only issues I've had thus far are with the magazine. Don't wind the drum up fully (until it clicks) or you could have some feeding issues. So far it's great in all other aspects.

I found a method to GREATLY improve the reliability of the drum mag, I upload a vid to youtube, so if you have problems regarding the drum mag please check it out, you just need to file off 0.5mm of metal from the axis and remove 1 screw. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXwP2IwPcQMif you think you cant do it by yourself, just send me back the drum mag and I will do it for you. Sorry again for the mag issue and I will do my best to solve it for you. Thanks!! Max

hi Fusilier, Yes I will soon sell the drum mag separately, the reason I didnt sell it out before because I cant find a way to make it feed better, now with this mod, 90% of problems are gone!! I am milling the slot on the axis these 2 days~~~ much faster than hand grinding. Spare mags will be availiable once the packing box for it arrive. no more than 2-3 weeks I think. If you guys need more help for the mag or anything, feel free to call me here. Thanks! Max

Forget the Li-poly. Just do like Udo suggests. Ni-Mh 1600 mah batteries from Intellect or Tenergy do the trick nicely and you don't have to worry about the li-poly headaches.

What lipoly headaches? No discharging, faster and quiet charge, smaller, lighter and more power. I have a shoe box full of heavy nicads and Ni-mh that I want to dump for lipolys. Max, any news on stick mags? BTW, Thanks for the video on the fix. That's what I call excellent customer service! Fusilier, WGC has lots listed

kalbs - I've been told the li-poly's are fire hazards. Also, for some reason, I've never been able to charge mine. The guy I bought them from sent me another charger and that won't work either. In other words, I've had nothing but headaches with them and am selling them off this weekend in fact. I do understand they are more power in a smaller package but the Ni-mh work great for me. What do YOU mean they charge loudly. As usual you did a great job on posting the dimensions and pictures for the magazine fix. That's what I thought Maxim was saying but wasn't sure.

Max, the gun looks great. And a manufacturer that is truely interested in proactive customer support is a refreshing change.
LiPo batteries:
LiPo (and all other Lithium base chemistry batteries) tend to have higher discharge rates than equivilent Nicad and Nimh cells. The Nicad and Nimh batteries tend to have discharge rates around 12-15C while LiPo's start around the same range and are easily found with rates well above 45C.
Since they (Li batteries) don't tend to develop charge memory so the don't require any discharging prior to recharging.
They also tend to be less sensitive to sub-freezing temperatures than Ni based cells.
Ersatzjack is correct that they can be a fire/explosion hazard...if they are not charged correctly. They actually should be charged with lower amperage then nichol based batteries to mitigate this hazard. They should be charged using a balancer (that's what the smaller multi-pin pigtail is for) to insure an even charge across all cells.
LiPo has another issue to be aware of. Over discharge kills the cells. If the cell voltage drops too low it will not charge again. There are several solutions available to warn you before the cells can be damaged.
MOSFET trigger controllers are also highly advisable for LiPo applications. Because of the higher discharge rates the trigger switch contacts can easily be burned by arcing. Properly built MOSFET TC's use a very low voltage across the trigger contacts. You also tend to get better trigger response as well.
Check places like cheapbatterypacks.com and RC suppliers for both premade packs, chargers, and balancers.
Just my 2 cents on Li batteries.
