MP-40 uses M-14 hi-cap Mags too How did you manage that mod? That is the one thing I do not like about the MP40's is their low capacity mags.

With a day like today, I am a little worried about my wool tunic. If we get something similar during the event, I may die of heat exhaustion before the first shot of the battle

I know before I asked about preregistration but how about prepayment? Is that required now, or can I pay when I show up?

Piper if I come saturday later (not on purpose) then the designated sign in time, would I still be able to play/sign up? And do you have to pre-pay and preregister at the same time? Or can I just send you a pm with my info and pay at the door?

Well I can't believe just a little over a week way and this event will be upon us. I just wanted to reassure everyone especially those driving great distances that this event is on track and on schedule so don't be concerned we have made preparations in advance for all different kinds of weather. Both the Germans and G I's will have plenty of places to get out of the hot sun or weather if need be and to keep their gear high and dry. Looking forward to hosting this awesome event so keep those registrations coming especially you Germans don't let the fatherland down. Looking forward to seeing old and new friends signed piper
Special note: as of right now I have two mp40s for rent and there is one Thompson available for rent the rental fee is $40.00 for the weekend and of course that comes with a Batterie and one magazine. Just send me a private message to reserve one.

Well guys we are less than a week out! It seems everything is coming along great! Piper is probably working his butt off right now putting the final touches on the field, the German iron rations are completed, all awards/documents are in hand and I spent the evening pulling kits together for my brother and I. Now it is off to the garage for all my period camping/billet gear. We will be arriving on Thursday at approximately noon to do some last minute preparations on the battalion CP and the surrounding camping area. We will have some additional period tent-age for those that need it and I would like everyone going German that has a zelt or 2 to please pack it. The weather has went from grim to great with only a 30% chance of showers as opposed to the 70% earlier in the week: www.weather.com/weather/tenday/03082Lets hope for a nice overcast "wool" day! If you have not pre-registered or let us know your intentions of coming you may sadly not receive the amenities that we (Mainly Piper!) have worked hard to give attendees like meals, pre packed lunches, welcome/info packs and mail calls. Just a reminder that all Germans are eligible for 3 awards at this awesome event this will include the medal and the award document and they are as follows: 1. General assault badge: This will be awarded to the participant that shows the highest regard for an authentic billet and kit. In other words if you have containers of green gas or BBs laying around your tent or sleeping quarters, if your boots say "CAT" or "timberland" you may not be eligible for this one! Keep all your moder air soft gear, food, toiletries, mountain dew or other items discreetly in a bread bag, ruck/pony pack or repro 88 box etc. 2. Iron Cross 2nd class: This will be awarded for valor and courage during combat and will show high emphasis on following the orders of your NCO's 3. Iron Cross 1st class: This will be awarded for EXCEPTIONAL acts valor and courage during combat and will show high emphasis on following the orders of your NCO's along with a high level of authenticity in your mannerisms and billet. I would encourage everyone to look at the link to the web page below and while I do not want to go crazy with formations and commands, I do feel that the recipients of the above deserve a decent showing while being given their awards. We will drill this two or three times before doing it for real! www.dererstezug.com/SchooloftheSoldier.htmTry to get familiar with some of the commands and formations so at least you have some idea. I would like to personally thank Piper for working so hard to bring us a great event, I know the time and effort it takes to put on an event with a WW2 theme! The raw labor, finance and administrative time alone is massive! Mark has gone above and beyond building 10.5cm Howitzers that actually fire, preparing a cafe, K rations, mail calls all the time keeping us informed with either forum updates or video tours of his accomplishments on the field! I wanted to get up to FGF to lend a hand but a 50 hour a week job, another 15 hours of commuting time, working weekends, family and being separated by nearly 300 miles has hampered my efforts. I have tried to help as much as I can from where I am. I have plenty of gear for anyone that may need a helmet here or a combat belt there but I most likely will not have the room in my vehicle to bring it all so if there is anything you need please PM me here on the forums and I will bring it along. Looking forward to see you all on the field next weekend! Happy memorial day all!

Thank you Gerry for all your help and support everything is coming along nicely both campsites are completed the cafe is built covered and stocked with French wine I'll have a couple of pictures up this evening so stay tuned remembered to printout a couple of sheets of period money for the cafe. Again thank you Gerry for your help you have been a much bigger help than you realize I am not an authority on German rations and gear so your input on those matters have been very helpful. Don't worry about not being able help at the field I am blessed by only living 10 minutes away from the field so is not been the problem of preparing the field. Everyone prepare yourselves for one of the best events the east has ever seen. Signed piper

Do you need "security" for the French cafe? Is so,I'll bring my Feldjager gorget and armband. They do this at the Gap event every year and is really impressive.
