In answering your question
the gun is MADE by king arms, but is licensed through Cybergun (has official trademarks).
Sort of like how Ares just made a g36 thats MADE by them but is has official heckler and koch trademarks by Umarex.
I hope this cleared some things up!

i knew it was made by king arms, i was just wondering if anyone has fielded this gun, bc im just wondering how much better the internals will be over the other versions, since i have a Cybergun version and has recently died, i want to pick this up

The Marui thompson is going to be the best out of the bunch, with the king arms not far behind at all. (internally speaking)
Both are a big step up from the Cybergun. I guess it depends on which company you like better and which price fits your budget.

ok.....the original M1A1 had little in the way of trades other than the military stamping on the side of the reciever.....TM does a good job of replicating this ...simple stamping,NO WHITE Paint or auto ordnance trades.....kinda funny since the majority of M1A1s were made by savage arms that did the original manufacturing streamlining that led to the simpler model...so your paying extra for BS trades.... as per reliability....my TM just had it's first servicing in almost 10 years of use.....when king arms can run that long then i'd buy one.....i haven't seen alot of physical diff's,interior or exterior, that make me think it's that much different than the cyma......and yes..i own 4 of those....got an evike special..lol..

That's nice to know. And to be honest the CYMA thompson is actually not that bad of a gun, it's greeeeeeaaaaaaat.

The TM Thompsons are consistently good. But the Cyma have been proven to be better...most of the time. As with anything ACM, you get the occasional lemon. But with the ones that do work well, work very well. They are stronger OTB than the Marui, come stock with a hicap (a plus for some), and have a more stable barrel fix than the TM (which have been notorious for breaking). All in all, a better bang for your buck. Just make sure to test it first. Given this, I expect that the king arms thompson will be basically the same as the cyma. Don't get me wrong, the TM is great...just overrated and the china made guns have been getting better and better.

Agreed. I see much potential for China based weaponry in the next years.

Don't know about the King Arms, but from the looks of it, it's probably a small step up from the Cybergun.
I own both a TM and a Cybergun. With the original purchase I did a full upgrade package on the TM with better spring, piston, tight bore barrel, etc. It is obviously leaps and bounds better than the Cybergun. Just costs a whole lot more!!
Cybergun is good, but I can never seem to put down my TM. 4 years and counting.

From there site it looks like it has real engraved trademarks. www.kingarms.com/productpage.asp?prodid=1933Who knows though as the ASGI one and the one on Airsoft extreme look just like the CYMA. Too bad they didn't make there 1928 better, still the same piece of garbage. Oh well.

I have had a Thompson from Marui since they first introduced it maybe 12 years ago and have used it extensively, loaned it out, shot thousands upon thousands of rounds through it. The barrel broke and I fixed it with dyna glass and bracing and it has soldiered on. I have had four or five Cyma Thompsons and have had no issues with any of them. I've left all of them completely stock. The Cymas shoot way way harder than the Maruis. Their quality is not as top notch as the Marui but the current batch of ACM guns isn't off by much and naturally the price is far more attractive. The China guns are definitely a good value.

Im usually an opponent of chinese clones but Ive owned three cyma thompsons and have also made them work real hard in the field with no hiccups. It seems their quality is getting better over the years.

I have owned three Cyma thompsons and two of them have broke internally, The third though is quite nice though actually, and I am now in the process of upgrading it.

First gun had a horrible gear problem. I believe the bevel gear was causing to much friction with the spur gear it had grind itself to death. Second gun was basically the same story, but the piston teeth also would detach and bounce around causing immediate failure as well.

Does anyone own the king arms version of the m1a1? I might buy one to fit my ww2/ early vietnam impression.

Can not say that I do. Sorry. Interesting to mention a Thompson being used in a Vietnam impression. I thought they were only used in little numbers by the south Vietnam army. It would be cool to use one though!

We had a couple Thompsons and a number of other "exotic" WW2 era weapons in our arms room in 1969-70 (Grease gun, Sten, lots of Soviet stuff and a BAR) so they were around for "Training" but were not fielded by our unit.

www.france-airsoft.fr/forum/index.php?showtopic=146538Here's a nice review on the King Arms M1A1 Thompson. It is in French, but Google translator does the job. Anyhow it seems the lower receiver is indeed real metal! The trades are also engraved and are realistic, beating both the Marui and the CYMA in that section. Its also full wood. I have to say the paint job looks fantastic too. Seems to be the best Tommy out there right now. It also seems there is another version which is basically a copy of the old Cybergun thompson, as in plastic lower receiver, painted trade marks, etc....

I'm still upset I didn't find the Stamped trades and wood Thompson before I bought the other KA Thompson with white trades.
So a few days ago I just engraved them with a Dremel, will be posting it in the Technical forum.
Also KA has Wood Kits and metal Lower Receivers as separate purchases.

Your KA didn't come with a metal lower? Where did you get it from?

I bought a new CYMA M1A1 Thompson on eBay about 2 years ago for $130. I wanted to learn how to work on AEG’s and didn’t want to spend a lot of money on one initially. First thing I did was remove all the stupid trademarks and weathered with paint to make it looked used. ww2aa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gear&action=display&thread=7853Then, I put in about $100 of upgrade parts and find that I have a great WWII Airsoft Gun. I replaced all the gear box internals, except for the gears – they are XYT gears and are well made. I also replaced all the air system parts, lightened up the spring, added a TBB and a new high ROF motor. Now I’ve got a Thompson that shoots a little over 320 FPS at 20 RPS with a 7.4v LiPo battery with no issues. I LOVE it. Next, I’m going to reinforce the front end before it breaks. The point is ... the King Arms version most likely has better internal parts than the CYMA ... so less upgrading is necessary ...

The CYMA Thompson shoots great out of the box. No upgrading is really needed unless for durability purposes. I'd just use it until it breaks down. But yea I can't comment on the KA as I've never actually taken one apart to see the quality of the internals.

What kind of spring is it? The fps depends on how good the airseal is. They are usually numbered by M90,M100,M120, and so fourth or by percentage. The internals are probably fine if they are greased and shimmed well.

I dunno what the stock spring power is, but when I changed to a sp100 it stopped punching holes in the bottom of pop cans. The internals should be fine, since did that when I changed the spring
