specs have totally changed since then. 6mm AEG with 42 round mag. (the gun will come with 2 mags). Just got word from local airsoft sellers that this initial release will be limited to 500 guns.

Any word on pricing from your sources? I fear these might be more expensive than we were all hoping .

Im not sure what a sportline model means but hopefully it is a reduced cost version. They will no doubt sell them in the $450.00 range but not nearly at the volume id like to see for our hobby to grow. Thrilled to see them come out in any event.

6mm with 2 mags 400-450.00 to my door is reasonable. 200 more is just not reasonable to me.

sportline means plastic stock, possibly plastic parts perhaps 100 usd less. that's what their sportline m4's are anyway.

The real wood furniture is a nice to have but not a need to have. Id rather see a lower price point so the percentage of fielded Garands go up compared to the all too commonplace thompsons.

The price is still outrageous...for $649 it better be blued steel! It is their metal painted "gun metal black" as I like to call it...Well, we will hope for the best!

G&G may end up making the more affordable model. I guess I'll still have a chance to sell my custom Garand if they are priced like this.

I think both companies recognize that a heavy, long rifle that shoots semi automatic with a small magazine capacity is going to sell in small numbers relative to normal airsoft economy of scale. To add to their challenge the development effort is far far greater than cloning someone elses thompson, m4 or mp5. They are probably basing their price point on the relatively low sales numbers for the Marushin GBB Garand and fail to realize that its low sales volume is primarily because it had a high failure rate and isnt truly skirmishable.
I was really expecting the Garands would be more expensive than a M14 but not by this much. If a guy bought a quality M14 and got the custom wood package he,d be up around $350.00 so $450.00 struck me as viable for an all wood, low volume product. I wanted to see the Garand be at least half of the weapons represented on the US side but at $550.00 plus that isnt going to happen. Pity. Still anxious for these offerings to be released.

I do not compare live steel to airsoft, wartime products will always be FAR cheaper. Airsoft guns are specialty models made in modern time as toys, so of course they will have a higher price in some cases. For $650 that is outrageous...

reflecting back on JAC gas BAR for $2500.00 and the Phantom "smokies" M1 Garand at $1200.00 (neither of which worked well enough to use in a skirmish.) I'm thrilled to see someone finally offering an M1 Garand AEG and relative to true custom productions even at $650.00 its well below the Shoie price models. No one appreciates better than I what it costs to design build and market a limited volume rifle but for a mass manufacturer I would think a lower prive point would be possible and still generate a profit. I suspect their R &D costs have greatly exceed what they expected and not knowing what the volume might be they feel the need to recoup those costs before another company clones their efforts and undercuts their price. Hmmmmmm? ?? As we ponder the reality of production and design costs we are reminded why these endeavors have been so slow in coming. Obviously we are not a mature enogh market to support our own desires. Like all markets we'll vote with our pocket books and the GnG and ICS will either sell or they wont. i suspect even at$600.00 they will sell but clearly the lower the price point the greater volume they will have. Volume however doesnt make sense if you're losing money on each sale or never recover your R&D. addressing our limited market place is a huge risk and with risk comes great rewards or great losses.

It always annoys me when people bring up real steel prices. They made millions of the things. Of course something with a batch size four orders of magnitude smaller is not going to cost similar.

i seriously doubt that they will price it at 650. The price the retailer quoted was around 450. i doubt if shipping to the us will add 200 dollars to the price. it may even be 450 shipped there.

$450 for an all wood and steel good performing Garand AEG delivered to the US would work especially if one with simulated wood came in for $100.00 to $150 less! This would obviously be premium over a Thompson or MP 40 but given the low volume, limited market not unreasonably so. Hopefully that's the ball park they are shooting for.

Like I said if it's 450-or so shipped then hot damn I'm on it. That is an expected price for a low volumn gun. i have issue with that at all...Now if only I can talk the wife into this and a BAR around tax time....

Its awesome isnt it to realize that as a german you can potentially field a kar 98. An mp 40 a stg 44 or a picked up PPSH or carbine. For a Brit you soon will be able field an Enfield and can field a sten and as a US GI you can field a Thompson, a grease gun, a BAR, a co2 carbine and will soon be able to field an AEG Garand that isnt home built and fairly soon a gas Springfield.
No more burlap covered m16s or AKs or replicas that look good but dont work. Halleluh ya! hot Damn!

We'll find out the price soon enough I suppose. The important thing is whether its expensive or not its a step in the right direction. The price is still outrageous...for $649 it better be blued steel! It is their metal painted "gun metal black" as I like to call it...Well, we will hope for the best! I can't really agree. The older real steel weapons get the more expensive and rare they will become.

There is really a lot of variety available to axis and allied players. Even more so with the inclusion of homemade aeg replicas in that mix! All we need now is more IJN and IJA weapons to stir up interest in Pacific events! Although I'm not sure if there are groups already playing Pacific style games, but a greater frequency would be great!

Pacific theater games actually in many ways make more sense for airsoft as the engagements were quite often at very close range, frequently were fought at the squad and platoon level and sadly were very often fought to a final elimination. At this point there doesnt seem to be much interest although with the proliferation of new us weapons if some japanese weapons came along that could quickly change.

Yup we in the Pacific have a dire need for Japanese guns. And rubber bayonets.
