Look under the "Korean War" section on ebay, often front seem fixed bails are sold there listed as "Korean War Helmets".

Thanks guys Ive been working really hard on getting WW1 gear and early WW2 Stuff and I have to say after two years of gathering, Both impressions are 99% complete (still helmate and want to change suspenders) I have seen many early USMC guys with 1936 suspenders but I have also seen alot of early USMC guys with the USMC style suspenders so I may get those for the Thompson gunners impression.
Also for the colt.45 where is it? Joe Levato carried his in an over the shoulder leather holster under his HBT jacket so until I get a holster thats where Im sayin mine is too. lol
By this next weekend Im gonna have my early USMC medic impression up too.

Yeah Im gonna do that, I nend to buy some grean jean material so that I can patch it up from the inside out and the patch is really strong, Im kinda liking the holes in the pants thing though, doesnt give me that new recruit look.
Any coments or questions welcome besieds the helmate and pants what else can be nit picked at, I want input.

Looks good TG! Is that one of 2nd Bats Springfields? It looks different, lighter color stock or something. Very nice impressions. On the topic of the helmet, I like how its all scuffed up and stuff Your whole impression, holes included, makes you look like a battleworn vet. Two thumbs up!!

Early USMC guys picked up anything they could find and were issued alot of surplus army gear, really my impressions represent guys who have been in action for months and have picked up misc army gear and added it to there surplus army USMC supplied stuff.
I would however like to replace my suspenders with USMC ones.
Oh and yeah that is one of 2nd bats Springfields I did a few modifications to it becuase as a model builder I simply cant leave anything alone no matter how good it is to begin with.

Nice, but... A mussete bag? Never seen a marine with mussete bag, i thought it was only issued to paratroopers. ...... um... no.... lol naw, even though peopl comonly refer to it as a paratrooper bag, it was an infantry item first. Officers had them, and the rangers. Though i have seen a couple pics of Pfcs with them in North Africa and Italy. -Cary

It was able to be issued to everyone, but was most common in paratroopers... at least they were the ones to make it popular.

It was also very commonly issued item with us Army troops in the PTO along with M1936 suspenders since the sart of the war, thats why USMC guys were able to get them.

Hey Twombly I gotta say that Im extreamly jelous that you actually have people that want to reenact USMC there, Good to see brothers in the core. Im curious what year are you guys portraying mid 43 to 44?
Ill be buying a set of reversables soon to do mid 43-45 impressions and for that I actually have to buy USMC marked gear too. lol

Yes, The post war pots gradually changed shape, WWII liners will not fit in PW pots, and vice versa. The chinstraps also changed many times.

I talked to Cap.Zak about it and he said the helmate I have is only a tiny bit shallower than a WW2 one but I looked at pics and the shape is the same just mine seems to be a bit shallower. Well where can I get a cheap WW2 helmate seeing as I have virtually no cash (although my birthday is May10th hmmm) I could have sworn though that damn things stayed virtually the same with few mods.

Just wear a helmet cover.

well you can usually find good deals on ebay. I just missed a really nice Mine Saftey Appliance Liner that went for 10bucks. But, a Helmet cover wont do one darned thing 29th. The shaped of the helmet like said is shallower, the liners are completely different, and the chinstraps i think like 50 and later are put on using a metal clip. -Cary
