Yes, that is what it is based on!
The film was temporarily banned because of its depiction of American deaths on the battlefield. George Marshall lifted the ban however, because it would be useful as a training aid.

Why does it feel like this work week is going to drag on? Can it be that the game is this weekend?

I think there will be 3 BAR's at the event. Mine, Sam's, and someone elses. Ed is really the one who will put the hurt on.

Well last week Gordak still had not gotten the screw that holds it together. He was using a pencil instead but it worked

Are any gerbirgsjager going besides me? Are you Registered? Last I saw only FJ and Panzergrenadiers were going. Some gerbirgsjager's would be very welcome! Especially since they fought during this battle!

Is it all right if I wear my DAK M43s with my gerbirgsjager uniform to the game? As long as you have a period uniform or clothes, I see no problem.

Partisan Profile Name: Salvatore Alfredo Catanzarro Birthplace: Sicily Age: 47 Occupation: Wine Maker/part time Tailor Born in Sicily in 1896 Salvatore moved to Naples with his parents in 1906. A Veteran of World War I Salvatore enlisted in the Italian army in 1915 just after the signing of the London Pact. Severely wounded during the Battle of the Piave River he sat out the remainder of the War. In the troubled postwar Period Salvatore found himself intrigued with Mussolini and Socialism he volunteered during the Spanish civil war where he was again severely wounded. Salvatore returned to Naples and worked in his fathers business. He began to work part time in a local tailor shop manufacturing custom suits which he excelled in. He went into another business with his cousin.... a brothel which ended up bringing Salvatore a great deal of money. Catanzzarro then went into a semi retirement and moved to the Liri Valley in late 1941 where he built himself a small farm. In the Fall of '43 with the landings at Salerno, Salvatore once again found himself drawn to war, much to old at this point in his life to enlist in the regular army, he moved into the German Garrison. Living, eating and sleeping amongst the Germans, Salvatore will not hesitate to bear arms for the Axis alliance as an irregular because of his undying support for the Mussolini Regime. He has strong leadership qualities and is fearless in battle almost so to the point of being careless. He is fluent in German French and Spanish. He is quite resourceful. Soft spoken for his robust size Salvatore is always well groomed and manicured even during these uneasy times and can be seen enjoying a glass of red wine at any time of the day. WOW !!! This is just awesome...... That's what I'm talking about... Great job...

Completely out of topic , but i have family in Rome ,an aunt who lives in Rome and a Great Uncle who is a Cardinal at the Vatican, when i was kid , 5 to 10 years old , i used to spend summers with my aunt and my cousins and me used to go camping in the mountains , i remember seeing the ruins of the old town of San Pietro Infine. My cousins still go camping and every once in a while i get a small box in the mail from them with 30.06 and 8mm rusted shells , or rusty German MG links , that they dig up in the Cassino , San Pietro Infine and Anzio/Nettuno area.

My grandparents go to Italy a lot. They said they'll bring me one day. Her cousin used to make cigarettes and sell them to the Krauts!
