My grandparents go to Italy a lot. They said they'll bring me one day. Her cousin used to make cigarettes and sell them to the Krauts! Not to the Krauts , she sold cigarettes to the TEDESCHI ;D

Odd fact... Ernest Hemingway was also wounded in the same battle...if anyone cares!
VERY COOL! They really did blast the little town to hell.

Well as long as we are steering off topic (I really didn't think it was) then here is something.
I was antique shopping today and found a very nice US Mess Kit, 1945 stamped with a manufacturers name on it but I don't recall. I'll haul it out to NY for $12. Any US troops at the event want to buy this. If so, I can pick it up before I go. The first guy that is going to the event that wants it gets it by posting below. Its a race. ;D

Hey, I have that triple-stacked Mess Kit. (The one with the 3 little plate-bowl things stacked) is that correct?

Speaking of Hemingway, my great-grandfather went on a patrol with him. I would direct link, but the site sucks, so here is the main page. Veteran Stories -> Part 1 -> Memories of Arnold Erbstoesser (page 3).

Nice pics Alder. That would be a fun place to play but somehow it would seem wrong. No?
Nice stories your Grandfather wrote Wolfgang. It was great they were recorded for posterity.
The mess kit is two pieces. One is a big pan with a handle and covering that is a two compartment pan on top. I don't have pics and don't plan on buying it unless someone wants it.

The heat will not be too big of a deal. A good amount of fighting will take place in the forest where the temperature drops five to ten degrees do to the shade the trees provide. Also, A sizable portion of the mock village we set up is in the shade as well. As are many of the German defenses that are directly in the sun since they have been covered with camouflage netting which will keep a fair portion of the suns rays off of the players. Not to mention some of the defenses are dug deep and/or have roofs. The Allied campsite is also in a decently shady location as is the German Campsite! In any event, bring lots of water. We will have some extra and there are stores nearby as well. Please make sure you bring period canteens. Also, if anyone does not have a period canteen of their own; I would expect players to share their extra water on the field, if you have two or three canteens. Water will also be at the social area as well! Keep yourselves hydrated!

It sounds like this would be nice Inland-Normandy or Rhine River Crossing Area. I've never seen it in person, but it sounds like it a little. I am not suggesting to do that, but just stating.

T-48 hours to go, just in case anyone is interested I will be bringing a couple of new cybergun thompson's that I will offer for sale at the event. $100 each without batterie or clip these make great backup guns especially if you already have a Thompson. I will post a sign on my blue Honda element at the event.

There may be more Americans signed up for this event than the total players we've had in a single game!

*Innocently puts a detour sign up for American players* Huh? Where! OMG! Less then two days, holy crap! This damn well might reach enough to have actual platoons on BOTH sides! Epic Platoon vs. Platoon clashes, tactics dear christ we may seem like we know what we're doin'!
