If I can make that weekend than I would definetly be in for the Friday night missions. I remember the last Days of Days when we all arrived during the day and had plenty of time to set up camp and get organized and then did some night fighting till around 11PM and it worked out quite nicely.

Come on Guys! Only 11 votes so far?!
So take a few minutes and chime in. Even if you can't make it, all answers help the determination.
Thanks, Migs All right you asked for it I am not sure I would be able to make any of these dates. Hopefully another German CO will step in and lead these fine Germans. I can say however that having done events in the past in June that anything in the first half of June is ideal for both temperature and bugs. We have done many June events and they have all been smashing successes. Joe is correct that in order to be able to book these fields he needs a better head count. I know that lately the German attendance has been rather scant. Not sure if the Germans have just lost interest or have moved on to other hobbies but unless we get more Germans to attend and commit to stay the full 2 days I fear we will end up having less and less of these WW2 events as many will migrate to the more popular and much better attended modern events. If you all feel that too many events are being planned then say so, if you feel that the WW2 theme is getting old than say so but either way we need to know if you guys are still interested in these. Joe puts a lot of time and efforts in organizing these events and unless he knows he has the support from both the American reenactors and the German reenactors I fear we might loose this great organizer also. SO GET YOUR FINGERS IN GEAR AND STEP UP TO THE PLATE! SAY SOMETHING!

Well here is my AAR of the Battle of Bastogne a la GZ Airsoft Wolcott CT. Right from the beginning I knew we had our work cut out for us. We were clearly outnumbered 2 to 1 and if we had any chance of winning any battles we had to make sure we had concise plans and extreme discipline. I knew that if I had any chance of keeping the Germans together it would be on the first assault, as prior experience had shown that over time the ranks disintegrate and discipline becomes harder to achieve. That said we put together our first attack plan for the day immediately following the beginning of hostilities. Planning the AttackIntel had shown that the Americans had occupied Bastogne but they were surrounded by Germans. This meant that over time their ammo supply would run out. This seemed like a slam dunk as all we had to do was engage them till they ran out of ammo. Unfortunately intel also indicated that a group of paratroopers had landed south of Bastogne and I feared that they might bring valuable re-supplies to the Americans in Bastogne. While taking Bastogne was our primary mission I knew that if we had any chance of accomplishing this, we had to stop the re-supply of ammo to the Yanks in the town. The plan was as follows. We would create a diversion East of Bastogne by placing 2 MG42’s and one Mg34 that would incessantly pound Bastogne with machine gun fire. The MG34 on the farthest South/Eastern location would cover both any South incursions and pound Bastogne to the North/West. The rest of the entire German army would be postioned between Bastogne and Marvie (Kafir Hill). The veteran troops would be facing South and the rookies would face Bastogne. An elite group of 2 SS would be sent to the far West in case the resuply tried to circle around Bastogne and enter via the West. This was all done with 17 soldiers. 4 were on the MG’s, 7 Elite forces would face South (11 through 17), 4 less experienced troops (5 through 8) would face Bastogne and 2 elite SS (9 & 10) would wait in ambush on the West of Bastogne. I knew that while our numbers where scant that this would probably be the only chance we had of taking Bastogne. If any of the paratroopers got through it was game over as the Americans would have had overwhelming superiority in numbers and ammo. The order of the day was… Stop at all cost any paratroopers from entering Bastogne and then take Bastogne once the occupiers ran out of ammunition. I would be one of the members that would man the MG42 (1) on the far North East, Sam (2) would man the MG42 on the East and Ray and his sidekick (3 & 4) would man the MG34 on the South Eastern side. The Elite SS, comprising of Jeff and Bill (9 & 10) would take the Western side in ambush and the rest of the German troops would be positioned between Marvie and Bastogne. Below is the field diagram of our positions. Before the battle started we sent out a scout team to ask for the surrender of the Americans, I knew that our appearance of overwhelming firepower might frighten the Americans to give up before any hostilities began. To my disappointment the American General sent me a incomprehensible response of “NUTS”. I did not have any 's so I ordered the German army to begin the assault. At first things looked to go very much our way. Right from the start Ray’s team took out 4-5 paratroopers patrolling the area. The MG’s seemed to draw the defenders to the East side of the town the plan seemed to be unfolding well. Unfortunately soon after that the Americans began to swarm the German positions like rabid killer bees with overwhelming superiority in numbers. It appeared that there were more paratroopers in the woods then defenders in Bastogne. I kept firing into Bastogne with the MG42 well out of range of any of their return fire but to my left I started to see dead German ghosts walk towards the re-spawn. As I began seeing more and more German ghosts leave the field I knew we were in trouble. Our main defensive position had been overwhelmed, it was just a matter of time before the re-supplies entered Bastogne. As gun fire became more and more silent I knew this first wave had failed and it was now time to proceed to plan B. We would never give up!.... Stay tuned for part II

Still composing my AAR but all I can say is what a great event! Attendance was great, over 44, and the weather was cooperating. Thank you Joe for putting this together, you did a fantastic job, the sound effects at night were terrific and the scenarios were a lot of fun. I liked your pictures and now am glad we did not do a frontal assault after seeing the emplacement of the M1919 30 cal. What a massacre that would have been. That was actually one of our attack plans but it never materialized.... thank you airsoft gods I realized we were low on the German count and while at our peak we had 17 Germans fighting, for the most part we were a lot less with various Germans having to leave early or arrive late. Most of the time it was a 2 to 1 fight and our Germans performed magnificently in spite of the odds. We put on a great fight and I know we gave the Yanks a run for their money. We had two successfull outcomes, the first at night when a Grupe managed to enter Bastogne and take it over just before Migs announced cessation of hostilities and the second when the Germans held Foy despite the overwhelming odds. Even though Nick scared the entire squirrel population within a 10 mile radius of the field when he shrieked about the 4 leaf fire that ended all fighting, I know that even without this interruption, the Yanks would never have taken Foy. The momentum was on our side and our Germans did not waiver one bit for one second. It was a very enjoyable event and will post a more concise description in the next few days. In the meantime will start working on the photos and videos. Thanks again to all that attended and a big thanks to Joe for putting this together.

For the Germans: Other than the Dunkin Donuts that is available for everyone both Saturday and Sunday morning, we will not be providing food during lunches and dinners for the Germans. You are encouraged to bring your own food. We will have campfires if you want to cook or you can bring some bread and cold cuts to keep it simple. Also make sure you bring plenty of water, you will be amazed at how much water one can consume in a day after running around. Please keep all waters in either period canteens or non marked glass bottles. No plastic bottles in visible places. Last time we had several large unmarked wine bottles that we filled with water that where placed in large picnic baskets and that worked fine. I will be there Friday around 4PM to bring some of the supplies up to the German camp area. I will not however spend the night and will return early Saturday morning to finish the German set up and spend the night Saturday. Technically game play does not start until Saturday morning so anyone is welcome to stay Friday night but all period rules do not begin until Saturday. Looking forward to seeing you all there, we have lots of cool scenarios and props for all of you to enjoy.

Less than one week to go before the grand operations!
For those of you familiar with the field and those not so familiar, below is the layout of the land including field landmark identification names in black and Badtogne operation names in red. Car access will take you as far as Bastogne. From that point on all equipment needs to be sent up by foot. The Germans have a lot of equipment that needs to be brought up to the German camp North of Foy. We will need all able bodies to help bring this up. The red doted arrows is the path we will take to bring all this equipment to the camp. Below is the list of items that will need to be sent. Please try and be on time as the faster we set up the sooner we get to shoot some Yankee butt and retake Bastogne ;D
- 30+ Mines - Mine signs - Crate of kerosene lanterns - Crate of kerosene - Large Tents - Field commander tent - Chairs and tables - Food cooler - Cots - Panzerfausts - MG-42 with Tripod - Weapon crates - Grenade crates - Ammo cans - Barbed wire - Flag poles - Firewood - PA system - Blankets - Canoes for swamp traverse - Dynamite crate
All German able bodies will be used to bring this equipment up. Those that help will get an extra food ration and preferential treatment during battle operations.

I have an S&T PPSH and so far no complaints. Seems well built and shoots quite accurate. Out of the box shoots around 385 FPS with .20g. It does have the quick spring release to change it to a higher spring but so far all tests have yielded very little extra FPS with a larger spring (probably due to the short barrel) and if you put too large a spring you risk loosing a few teeth on the piston. So anything over a 120M spring would need a new piston.
The metal is real steel (I did the magnet test) as opposed to pot metal and is nicely finished.
All in all I would recommend it. Good quality gun with quality packaging. While S&T is a fairly new company they seem like they are trying to position themselves as a quality Airsoft maker with very nice packaging, detailed instructions and good looking guns. I also have their SVD which is also impressive and bears the same quality look and feel.

!Achtung
Deutsche Soldaten! As we are 8 days away from operation Bastogne, I want to send out a preliminary communication to all German reenactors! I expect all German soldiers to be registered no later than 8:30AM on Saturday morning. We have a large German camp to set up and we will need all available manpower to get this up prior to battle. This camp will be set up at the Town of Foy on the High Point hill area. There is no access to vehicles at this location and we will have large amounts of gear to trek up there by foot. Welcome to the army ;D The German camp will be 100% authentic. NO modern tentage will be allowed. If you have a modern tent you can set it up in the parking lot. We have lots of reenactors that have spent beaucoup bucks on authentic period tents and they would all like to keep the real look and feel of the time period at the camp site. At the last event we had a very nice period German campsite but we still had some people bring modern equipment. I am going to ask that all German soldiers adhere to the following standards: - No modern flashlights. Use period or period reproductions only. - No modern coolers, plastic bags or anything else that is not period correct. At the last event we had lots of personal coolers strewn all over the field and it did not look cool. - If you must bring modern items, please wrap it in NON-marked paper bags, burlap, period rucksacks, ammo cans or crates. We have quite a few reenactors that have done a nice job hiding some of their modern items in paper bags or burlap and no one knew for the better. - We will have plenty of oil lamps throughout the camp to keep the area illuminated. I understand that some may feel uncomfortable keeping oil lamps inside your tents. This is fine, just try and hide the modern lamp in something period or keep your tent doors closed so it is not visible from the outside. - German uniforms only! No modern camo, sneakers or anything else you feel looks cool that is not period correct. We will have a company inspection by our Oberleuntnant and myself. We will be looking at uniform standards and handing out authenticity grading standards on each participant. In addition to our two votes we will ask each German reenactor to also vote who they feel has the best impression. The company vote will carry 1/3 the weight of mine and the Oberleuntnant’s votes. The top two most perfect impressions will receive prestigious military awards for their efforts. Camping at night in winter can get cold. If the temperatures stays above 32 it should be bearable. However if it falls below 32 expect a bone shilling night. Things to bring to help you through the cold. - Wool uniform, some wool under layers, and wool socks. - Sleeping pad if you are sleeping on the ground (helps keep the cold away). Sleeping cots, sleeping bags AND wool blankets. - Ski hand warmers. These can do wonders thrown into your sleeping bag at night. - Gloves - Spare batteries. The cold will kill your airsoft battery in no time. Spares will help a lot. If you bring the ski hand warmers throw a few with your airsoft battery at night to keep the batteries warm. You will be amazed at how many batteries I have saved for the next day by keeping them warm over night. - Food, please bring your own food for both days. Dunkin Donuts at 456 Main Street in Leominster, MA has graciously offered to donate breakfast for both days. They did this at the last event and it was much appreciated by everyone. So all you will need to bring is lunch and dinner. I would like to ask each participant to bring some firewood. If you can stop by the grocery store and pick up one of those 4 packs of wood they sell it will help us keep a roaring fire for the night time socializing. We usually all sit around the fire at night and reminisce about the days events over some libations, food and wonderful period German music. Dinner is reserved for after all battles are over which can sometimes be late. So for you early bird eaters, remember, we are reenacting a wartime event, soldiers in the day ate when it was safe not when they felt like it. Your field commander will let you know when it is safe to eat and stand down from military operations. In short here is a summary of what to expect: Authentic German camphost.activeworlds.com/jp/tent6b.jpg [/img] Period German musichost.activeworlds.com/jp/marlenebb.jpg [/img] Nightime entertainmenthost.activeworlds.com/jp/camplant2b.jpg [/img] Lots of explosiveshost.activeworlds.com/jp/explosionb.jpg [/img] Epic battleshost.activeworlds.com/jp/epicb.jpg [/img] Making new friendshost.activeworlds.com/jp/friendsb.jpg [/img] Lots of Yanks to shoot at ;Dhost.activeworlds.com/jp/yanksb.jpg [/img] Looking forward to a fantastic event. Let the Germans change history and win this Battle of Bastogne! From Oberkommando der Wehrmachthost.activeworlds.com/jp/odwc.jpg [/img] Be well and be safe, Auf Wiedersehen

Hey All: I am a German Heer reenactor based out Boston. To date I have never attended an airsoft event, but have always wanted to try it out. I had no idea people did WWII airsoft until I found this forum sometime ago. Anyway, if all goes well I may break my airsoft virginity with this event (I still want to try "modern" airsoft at some point). That said, I have a few questions. (1) I have an impeccable period-correct kit from reenacting. However, at the moment I do not have a proper airsoft gun. I wil try to obtain one prior to the event. I do, however, own an original 1939 K98 that I fire blanks with at reenactments. I know someone above asked about using blanks. If I was unable to obtain an airsoft gun before the event, would a blank-fire K98 be permitted? I believe some local reenactors (914th) attended the Day of Day event last year and used K98s/blank fire. (2) What do people use for face/eye protection for WWII airsoft? Obviously reproduction toques could be use for face protection (and be dead-on period correct), but what is normally used for eye safety? (3) Is it required to attend the event that you be part of, or come with, an established unit? I may try to convince some members of my reenacting unit to do this event with me, but I think they will baulk. I may end up flying solo. Also, I have a zelt-tent (4 people) that anyone is welcome to share with me if they need quarters. However, I respectfully ask that anyone doing so not bring any modern gear/equipment inside. DANKE! -Chris Chris we would love to have you attend this event with your blank fire weapon. We have done this in the past and it adds a lot of realism to our events. I also have a few extra Axis weapons that I keep as spares, assuming my main weapon does not die on me I would be happy to lend you an MP40 or MP44 if you wanted to mix blank fire with Airsoft. As for our impressions, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how accurate our members try to make their uniforms. Everytime I go people get more and more spot on with the help of the veterans that graciously point out some minor flaws. Airsoft reenacting is a blast and along with the Airsoft weapons you will see us using Airsoft grenades and all kinds of other weapons that make for a realistic experience. I agree with you on facial hair. I have always asked that my team members shave it off before the events and I am happy to report that at the last event the last facial hair hold out shaved it off ;D. My feeling is that this is something that you can grow back in a week or two so get rid of it and look the part We always enjoy blank fire reenactors at out events and I know of a few blank fire reenactors from other units that will be attending so you are more then welcome and we would love to have you attend.

Question : what will happen if people show up and there impressions are not spot on ? Will they be turned away or encouraged to get the correct gear for future events? Protocol is that we line you up against a wall and everyone takes turns taking point blank shots at you until you promiss to show up in spot on impression On good days we usually try and help you by pointing out your flaws and what needs to be done to make your impression better. Do not worry, we have all been there with what we thought were "killer impressions" only to have them torn apart by the veterans. Just take the advice as a learning experience that helps you become more and more accurate for future events. No matter what, as long as you have shown a concerted effort in trying to put together an accurate impression you will not be turned away. Everyone has been where you are at and we all got to where we are at today thanks to the verterans helping us better our impressions.

!Achtung Deutsche Soldaten! We are a little over 3 weeks away from our grand operation to repel the Schweine from Bastogne. Too many of our courageous Brüder in Armen have died securing this town and we will not tolerate these vile invaders from taking over what is rightfully ours.
We will be stationed in the town of Foy from where we will commence our counteroffensive operations. The Fuhrer has ordered that we split the Allied armies by means of a surprise blitzkrieg through the Ardennes. This will take us right into the poorly defended Bastogne. We should make quick sauerkraut of these inexperienced Kakerlaken.
To help in this efforts we shall have all the necessary firepower to push forward. This will include:
MG42's
Panzerfausts
Mines
Flares
Grenades
Howitzers
Secret weapons
Rest assured that we shall make the Fatherland proud and will make these Yankee dearly pay for their intrusion. More details shall follow in about 2 weeks. A lot of preparations have gone into making our counteroffensive a huge success as we shall have insurmountable firepower on our side. We are looking for additional volunteers to help in this offensive. Schnell! get your registrations in today! You shall return to Berlin a hero!

I'll agree on the hair cut and getting the stuff dirty (I do it naturally at games however) but for the facial hair it stays. My feelings on facial hair for German WW2 reenactment. Shave it off if you want to really relive history. You can grow it back in 2 weeks, no big deal. Showing up with beard or goatee in German uniform is just........ well let's just say to be nice...... not realistic at all.

Cool! We get to spar against Hornet. Game on bud, our forces shall give you a run for your money Looking forward to this one. If the weather continues on this path we shall have a balmy event and comfortable nights. Already planning the whole German camp, as usual it shall be filled with period sounds, tents, music and props. Will start posting more on what we will be bringing in the next few weeks. Lets give these yanks something to remember, we need all the Axis forces you can muster. Get those registrations is and let's get this year started with a bang. If anyone wants to help out I would love an assistant to make sure we are 99% period correct. Just PM me if you want to volunteer and have lots of Heer experience. It is hard to believe it is the end of January and March is just around the corner. This will be a grandiose affair, I will make sure to coordinate with Migs and Hornet to ensure we have the maximum props to make this a memorable event. ""Soldiers of the Reich! This day you are to take part in an offensive of such importance that the whole future of the war may depend on its outcome."

I would love to help out the Axis side with some of my guys but I have two problems. It is 660 miles from where I live, which is not the end of the world, BUT more importantly, I will be traveling for my kids winter break starting the 17th. Would have been great to experience a new field with new players It is nice to see more WW2 games being held in Eastern locations I am sure it will be a huge success.
