OK,I am officially registered. I even got my tunic for the event today from Spearhead. I may have to post a review... Hey Fusilier, congrats. I was looking at Spearhead and some of their tunics. Can you tell me what you ended up getting from them.

Thanks again everybody for the input. To answer your questions Gerry, I have registered for the event, first name is JP. Looks like some people carry and others do not, however most feel it is probably not necessary. The only question that has still not been answered is for those that carry, are they allowed to carry gas powered pistols or is this not permitted. Re the Mauser C96, from what I read it was mostly used in WWI but apparently some second line troops did use them in WWII. Hopefully if one of us does bring one, that it would be period enough to be accepted. Maybe a wayward soldier from Stalingrad that ended up in Brecourt You guys have been great, really appreciate all the answers

Thanks Ersatzjack, this has been a long discussion with my friends who are insisting I get a side arm. Personnaly I think they are a waste, but you have helped reinforce my belief that they are probably not going to be much use in combat.
That aside, are there any rules regarding gas powered pistols. I ask because I know the other two guys coming with me are going to want to know.

I will pre-apologize if this is redundant or something that is common knowledge but many people are telling me that some kind of side arm is recommended for these events. I was wondering if gas pistols would be allowed. I am considering getting a gas Mauser and wanted to check before doing so.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the info. I actually found some Golden Ball 26g BB's that I have been experimenting with. I have found they tend to fly straighter much farther than the 20's that seem to deflect in distance. Thanks Gerry for the guide. Was not aware of the red pipping shoulderboards. I am always open to best price versus quality. Right now Ebay seems to have a nice selection of choices, but I am open to other suggestions if anyone has good vendors. Looking forward to meeting you all, wish it was June already PS: Gerry, we will welcome you to the 40's club in two years, just around the corner

Thanks Fusilier, I appreciate the offer of help. We are on the German side. Most of the weapons we owned were of modern type. As a result we purchased MP44 and MP40's so has to be able to participate in this event. We have purchased M36 tunics and figured black boots would be appropriate, but after seeing the posts about boot color, I figured I would just check One other question that was not answered earlier, is the BB's. I assume we bring our own and was wondering if FGF had requirements for biodegradables and if there was a weight restriction. For example are we ok using 30g bb's or are we limited to 20g. I realize these are probably dumb questions to the veteran but we just want to make sure we do this right and show up fully prepared. Thanks for your help, we are three guys in our forties having a mid life crisis and have just gotten into Airsoft which is a blast. Looking forward to meeting you all.

I have been away for a week during the school holidays and come back to see many many new posts for this event. I am glad to see that there is momentum building and that we will probably have a good turn out. I would just like to pipe in as one of those people new to Airsoft and very excited to be able to participate. We are several players who decided to purchase period weapons and clothing so as to be able to participate. While we made every effort to be as accurate as possible, we hope that if we missed a color or stripe here and there that no one will begrudge us. We fully support authenticity and have tried very hard to conform, but we fear that we may have missed small subtleties that will make us stand out as outcasts. We hope to be able to fit in to this new hobby and grow into the Airsoft WW2 veterans that many of you are with help and encouragement from you if we miss a spot once in a while. So please be kind to us newbies and if we ask dumb questions, please understand that we are just trying to learn and educate ourselves so that in the future we might in turn be able to help new Airsoft players join our ranks. PS: What color boots do the Germans wear?

I was also curious about the grenade rules and about rifle grenades (the kind that attach to the end of the barrel) whether they were permitted. In addition what are the BB rules? I assume it is BYOBB, are there any weight restrictions, should they be biodegradable?

From the How to help Event Organizers Thread - >> WTF? Even when I make an innocuous comment I get slammed! Its not like I'm slamming the event for Gods sake! You guys are something... For what it is worth, I did not think your comment was offensive or derogatory. I agree slamming is never a good thing but discussion and comments never hurt. Helps keep the topic alive which hopefully will translate into great attendance for the event

Sorry guys, must have missed the part where it listed all the weapons. Did not see it when I first saw this post. The link www.worldwar2airsoft.com/articles/requirements/required.html which has uniform examples, indicated that you could use any AEG regardless of era. I realize this was a different event so I thought I would check just in case this event had some flexibility. Unfortunately the earliest we have are M14's and HK G3's which I believe are 1950's.

I realize it requires the proper dress for the period but does anyone know if it also requires WWII period weapons or if any airsoft weapon would be acceptable? I have three people that would like to attend and we only own weapons like M16's, AK's and G3's.
