Scratch out my last post. I made a few mistakes on what my uniform and gear is. This is the final shopping list: M43 Wool Tunic w/ basic Heer Insignia M43 Wool Trousers Heer Belt and Buckle Y-Straps Bread bag Canteen Machine Gunner's Pouch Obergefreiter Tank Chevrons(Late War) E-Tool w/ Leather Cover Dummy Machine gun rounds and belt(If I can find one) Is there anything that I should have besides this? I'm not getting an A-Frame, too expensive for me, but anything else a MGer might need? My Grandfather hasn't been much help on infantry uniforms and gear.

Thank you for all of the great advice, especially that of Fillies(Sorry if I spelled that wrong). I will purchase my wool uniform first and then see if I can take the heat, if it gets too hot I just won't play that day. As for the period and type of soldier I plan on impersonating, I plan on being a Here Overwrite with an Mg-42, of the 12th Infantries Ind Volgograd Division. That division fought on both fronts from the war's start and end and has a good combat record. As for the year of service i was thinking 1942-43. I know that Mg-42s may not have been issued widely except in Waffle-SS divisions until late 1943(Information from my Grandfather, who was a King Tiger and Cadger commander), i am not all that concerned. I was also pondering over the idea of starting my own unit for anybody that wants to join. I imagine that most of the battles will be held at Bing Field if i actually create a unit of the 12 Infantries; it seems like there isn't enough people to create a unit in the area but who knows. Anyways, my uniform and equipment list is as follows: M36 or M40 Wool Tunic with Here Infantry Insignia and Overwrite Rank Chevrons M37 or M42 Wool Trousers Here belt and buckle Machine-gunner's Pouch Bread bag Jack Boots Canteen Mg34/42 Ammunition Can(air soft Mg42 is tube-fed) M43 Here field cap Air soft Mg-42 Of course I might change my mind from now and the time I purchase all of this. If there are people wanting to join a 12. Inferior Unit I might have to bump myself up to a Senior NCO rank or maybe 1st Lieutenant, but I'll just have to see how that goes.

I'm going to start piecing together my Heer uniform and have been concerned about how hot I would get in wool. I live in St. Louis, Missouri and it gets about 80-103* here in the summer, but very cold in the winter. I'm not sure what would be the best type of uniform. Please give me your opinions.

Hello, I am trying to find an Axis unit that is in the Missouri or Illinois area. I don't care if its a Heer, Waffen SS, or Luftwaffe Fallschrimjaeger or Ground unit-just some people to play with. I am almost at the point of purchasing my uniform and kit and i don't want to get a Sturmpioneer uniform and equipment and then find out that there is a Panzergrenadier unit already established. I am 15 and a half years old. If anyone on here was thinking about creating a Missouri-Illinois based unit I'm all ears. Thanks

A Mauser with a C96 stock like that would have not been issued to German soldiers in WWII. Soldiers did not have them at all. The only types of C96s that would have been used were the normal semi-automatic version and the fully automatic version. Some tank crew men did use the fully automatic version over the Mp-40 because of the increased rate of fire and its small size. The full auto version often came with a wooden holster that could be attached to the bottom of the grip for increased accuracy and stability in firing. I have never seen a C96 with a stock like that in service anywhere in the world. I do believe that a prototypical version was created an briefly tested my the Wehrmacht and Chinese Red Army, both militaries rejected the prototype.

I livein Ballwin, I'm getting ready to start my Heer impression. I'm already in contact with the Heer Zwolfte Infantrie Division( German Army 12th Infantry Division). If you do an American or Allied impression we might be ableto meet up and I could shoot you or something ;D

A basic Waffen SS Landser uniform, without a gun, will cost you about $650.00 give or take. The most basic impression is as follows: *Wool Tunic (I like the M40 and M43 or DoT 44 Camouflage tunic. No other form of camo tunic would be issued on a regular basis to the average Waffen SS soldier.) *Wool Trousers, or Dot44 or Italian camouflage *Waffen SS Belt and Buckle *Magazine pouches * High boots for early war, short boots for mid to late war * Y Straps * Breadbag ( Not the blue Luftwaffe version) *Canteen *Gas mask can

My best guess would be that it is a M45 helmet. Now before any of you go bananas saying "there wasn't any M45 helmet dumb a_ _" , wait. There were plans to make a M45 helmet, which would have been put into production if the war continued. Very few were made and they have become very hard to find. Basically it is a über-simplified helmet with hardly any liner. Some of them were supposed to have a special attachments, such as a new model Vampir Nachtjaeger sight-but I cannot confirm this myself. I actually own a reproduction of the Leibermuster camo uniform, and its pretty cool. If you look at it thru the Vampir it is very, very distorted. How do I know, I have a Vampir.
