I know that many of you have Zeltbahns in your kit and since I am purchasing the different pieces of my uniform and kit I have been thinking about getting one too; but is a Zeltbahn really worth the money? Zeltbahns are a signature piece of German equipment of the war and they are seen on almost every single soldier's A-frame or as a Shelter, so there is no doubt in my mind that it is a good piece to have that can make or break your "look". However, besides from that, what are you using it for? I can't imagine that many of you are using your Zeltbahns for shelters or ponchos because I have never seen any videos or photographs of them. So is it really all for looks or are you really using them?

Maybe you should try to get a Kar98K and be like the average German soldier in WWII instead of spending your money on an Mp-40. Seriously, there are more Mp-40s in this hobby than were made during the whole d-mn war! The Kar98K is the best gun to go with.

Do any of you know of Gebirgsjäger using knee pads as well as Fallschrimjäger? I know that they were not standard issue by any means, but it seems like something mountaineers might need when climbing. What are your thoughts on this?

Which types of Waffen-SS units would have worn the M37 tunic during the war, or was it really ever worn at all by troops? I am trying to get a Waffen SS Gebirgsjaeger uniform and kit together and saw this tunic on Hessen, thought it was interesting. Any information on this tunic, or the tunics worn by the Gebirgsjaegers would be appreciated.

According to Wehrmacht training manuals(1944-45), when crossing open ground or areas in combat should be done as follows: 1) Gruppenführer observes the open area. 2) Deploy smoke grenades if available to conceal movement. 3) Form a fire-line. Here is the proper construction of a fire line. From left to right. Rifleman, Machine-Gunner, Rifleman, Gruppenführer, Rifleman, Rifleman, Submachine Gunner, Rifleman, Rifleman.
4) Move as quickly as possible thru the open area tacking advantage of any natural cover. Be on high alert.
I hope that helps. If you have any more questions about German tactics, just PM me.

*UPDATE* I have one more person that would like to attend this event. He will need a weapon and can play on either the Volkssturm or French Resistance. His Name: Steven M. Team: Volkssturm/FFI
Depending on whether or not I have my uniform by October I will also have to play Volkssturm. Sorry for the confusion.

I have a friend who is curious towards airsoft, he's never played before. Do you think he could borrow a weapon? I could provide a Volkssturm armband. If it costs to rent weapons that would be fine as well.

Do you think I could get away with using one in just a standard Heer or Waffen SS impression? I haven't been able to find much information on GBJ uniforms, especially the trousers. Dose anybody here do an impression of a GBJ??

Hello, I might be able to get a Tanaka G33/40, but I need some information considering the weapon's distribution to German units during the war, particularly what types of units were equipped with the G33/40. I am already aware that Gebirgsjaeger were issued with them, but I have also read that Calvary units also used them. Can anybody please tell me exactly which types of units used them?

Hello, I'm sure many of you have seen or even own a airsoft or infrared RC tank, but here are some videos of my custom detailed and painted RC tanks. Tanking has been my primary hobby for the last 5-7 years, I've studied just about everything there is on them-even in the process of writing a book. So naturally, the world of RC tanking wen't hand in hand. The airsoft aspect is what brought me into the world of airsoft, and here. The videos below are of my custom Matorro King Tiger and the very first run of Matorro's King Tiger, being the second one sold on the market . Jagdtiger www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZlLbdNnXGs King Tiger www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztLatQUAZpI&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL Unfortunately, my budget doesn't allow me to do more than one hobbie at once( my King Tiger alone cost me some $500.00!!!! and airsoft guns and impressions are like $600.00+++), but you never know.

"What would be the coolest uniform load out for a Hermann Goering Division MG 42 gunner? " An accurate one would be coolest. Well of course! Its just that they had so many different types of uniforms to choose from! There was the traditional wool tunic/trousers, tropical versions, Heer camouflage, Waffen-SS camouflage, Luftwaffe camouflage...........

I have decided that the Hermann Goering Division is for me, just need some help with uniform information. The following question is going to be "stupid", you have been warned. What would be the coolest uniform load out for a Hermann Goering Division MG 42 gunner?
I have been looking at getting a M40 Fliegerblouse w/ Insignia, Palm Tree camo smock, and tropical trousers-along with all of the field gear; but what do you guys think?

Yes I'm sure that most of the Veterans on this forum are going to overlook my little group and probably criticize it. I know that sounds very depressing, but I'm only making this comment after being a long-time member of another forum, RC Universe. The Veterans on that forum always starting arguments with me on every simile one of my posts, so much, that I just deleted my account. The Vets. here seem like they are all great people though, so I am not that worried. So far, I'm only one person away from being able to be classified as a WW2AA Unit(I have 3 members including myself), if I am not mistaken; and upon reaching 4 members I will be sure to try and become recognized as a unit in this organization. Yet again, I would like to state that I am not committed to my "unit", and that if anyone has a unit in Illinois or Missouri I, and the members of my unit would be glad to join. However, I have not been able to find an Illinois-based unit yet, the closest one in my knowledge is the 3rd. Panzergrenadier Unit in Michigan, which is out of my range.

Do you think you could make a pyrotechnic M24 Stieldhandgrenate out of a Mk5 Thunderflash. Use the Tunderflash for the stick and something to repesent the explosive? Just a thought.

Hello, Have any of you ever purchased from Sould of the Warrior? They have some impressive mortars, launchers, and cannons that can be used in airsoft and paintball matches for good prices. I caught my eye on their RC-3 Recoilless Rifle, I think I might be able to turn it into a Raketenwerfer 43 Püppchen with some modifications. What are your thoughts? Yes those 16 inch naval guns can really tear stuff up. I've been on the U.S.S. Alabama in Mobile, Al. and was fortunate enough to get there when they still had some of the smaller turrets operational(As in you could adjust traverse and elevation). I believe the only turrets you can adjust on the Alabama now are the 20mm Bofors AA MG and a few of the 5 inch AA guns. I would still like to see a airsoft battleship. All you would have to do is take a John Boat or something a little larger and make some metal turrets and a faux smoke stack. To take it out you use a Coastal Artillery piece, to simulate explosion and destruction crew pops smoke grenades on the boat. Safety would be a majorconcern.

Has anyone ever thought of welding some metal plates with firing ports and maybe a few cannons to make a airsoft battleship? Then we could have a Kriegsmarine v. Royal Navy or USA v. Japan, ect. Just a thought.

Here's a better idea, open for more players. just call the unit "Die Wehrmacht" and accept all. If numbers grow we could get all of the Waffen-SS together in a squad, all of the Heer in a squad, and all of the Luftwaffe in a squad...that way we are open to everybody . Also make a "Foreign Volunteers" squad for those being Ialian/Finn. Volkssturm squad for noobs and try-outs.

I share the same thoughts about Bing Field; the only reason I mentioned it was that the last time I played at Bing the management told me that about 5-8 guys dress up as Germans-but don't belong to a group. They do host WW2 themed games, but as far as accuracy goes and historical reference, well let's not talk about it! I would love to play a WW2 in the fall here. Please keep me informed about that. By that time I should have my entire impression done. As for the group/unit, i really don't know if I could start one(only 15!). would WW2AA accept a group organized by a 15 year old? Of course I would follow all of their rules and guidelines. I was thinking that if I did make a unit in this area I would make it a Heer unit because of the shortage of Heer reenactors. I don't know how that's going to play out because it seems like everybody wants to be in the Waffen-SS everywhere, just so they can have some Totenkopfs and camouflage to wear. Maybe I could just call the group " Das Heer and it could be just general infantry of the Heer of all stages of the conflict( Afrika Korps, Italian Front, ect). I wouldn't mind Italian impersonations either. Yeah, I could see this thing now. What do you all think?

WE SHOULD JUST START A UNIT! IT SEEMS LIKE ALL WE HAVE BEEN DOING IS WAITING FOR MORE PEOPLE, BUT IF THERE AREN'T ANY UNITS TO JOIN, HOW ARE WE GOING TO GET PEOPLE?!!?!? Sombody just needs to start a unit and start going to the local airsoft fields an pick up members along the way-I for one, would join any German unit in a flash around here. The people at the field start to see a few German soldiers and ask what it takes to join and BINGO! We have a STL unit. Now, who is going to start one in STL or near by? Send me a PM and we'll get this thing goin'!
