I think we need to make the section titled GARAND a bit bigger or something as people keep asking all over on how to make one.

Any AEG M-14 rifle can be converted to an M1 Garand.

Yeah its deffinatly not at an end. As soon as school is out for the summer and I get back from college Im going into full swing with production and expect to sell around 50 rifles before I halt production in late August. I have been stocking up on parts and supplies and am im a much better position to produce in quantity than when I started building last summer.

Its very true that people really have no sense of what the cost of building these things are. Major manufacturing companies are able to offer Thompsons, K-98, Mp-40s and Mp-44s for aroudn $200 becuase they have a huge cheap labor force to build the guns, massive ammounts of cash for development and the ability to build thousands of these guns in a very short time.
Becuase of the massive production capabilities they can distrubute thousands of guns all over the world to a high demand market which eats them up at huge rates. Thus they can within a 3 month period make back everything they invested into the the development aspect of the gun and then begin to pull very large profit margins and over time lower there prices.
I worked for a company in the product development department and have a full understanding of how these companies work.
In retrospect the single person manufacture has to cover the initial parts cost for everything needed to build the gun, then the material cost for items used to buidl the gun and then cover the shipping for everything to get it to the shop. Not to mention having to make investments in power tools and other various peices of equipment needed to make the guns. Then there is the HUGE ammount of labor that has to be taken into account when building our guns becuase we dont have a bunch of people to do it for us, all we have is ourselfs. Then becuase there is only one builder the build time is usually quite long.
But in short becuase AGM can offer an AEG M-14 for $120 why cant we make a Garand for under $200? This is the thinking behind those who do not understand how a buissness runs.
Also for some of these reasons I am no longer going to be posting in progress pics of my rifles on this forum anlylonger. Far too many critics that realy add nothing to the process. Finished pics will be posted but only when it has been done and available to everyone. All updates will now be available to view on my web site.

Very good idea. I have seen that done here a couple of times on this forum and it has deffinatly proven to be a better approach than to hollow out a full solid stock.
The Type-100 is a go and provisions are being made to build it. I dont expect to sell many of them so my limit will be a max production of 5, one being for me lol.
I also may offer them as props with no internals and sell them at WW2 blank events as well, we will see.
Since I launched the web site I have gotten many e-mails from people. My favorite so far being the ones where someone asks if I could lower the price for them to $200 for an Enfield, or build a AEG Garand for $200!!!!!!!!

I dont think I could ever take over the market that 2nd bat has come to dominate, I simply does not seem right and I respect him too much to do that. Besides I actually would not be able to start where he left off, infact I would have to start at the begging really lol.

OH man, so bluecrab of pain got me looking around for pics of the Type-100 SMG and after only a few minents of googling I ended up with an entire file of saved pics on my computer.
I also came up with an attack plan. I want to try and build a Type-100 SMG. Mp-40 internals would fit and the reciver area is just a big tube with a sping leaf sight at the end of it. Then the barrel jacket is simply vented with a smaller tube attached under it.
The stock would be the most time consuming piece to replicate. I imagine the first one I make the stock will be from hand but Im certain I can find a source for hunting rifle stocks, shorten them and make the needed mods to look like a Type-100 SMG stock.
The mags can come from an Mp-5 and the magwell can be used from an Mp-5 as well and attached to the reciver of the Type-100.
The entire concept of an AEG Type-100 is actually feasable. If I can get one working they wont be available for purchase until July and I end production in August.
I will update my blog entires on the site once I start production of the prototype.

Actually I have been wanting to do a type 99 rifle for while now. I could even do one on a Special build basis.
I dont think it would be very cheap to make as I bet you would have to buy a complete type 99 rifle to get all the needed parts from it.
It would be really neat to make one though and I have had the itch to do it.
Also a type 100 SMG would be neat too. The mags could be Mp-5 mags and the internals being from an Mp-40.

Very very very nice impressions!
There are only 4 things that I would add and change and they are minor.
Do you happen to have a pair of P-41 suspenders? if so for your Guaddalcanal kit have them on with your Thompson kit. Early in the war alot of guys wore them but as the war went on you see less and less marines wearing the P-41 suspenders.
For both kis I would get rid of the .45 and holster. Most guys with thomspons did not have them and it seems that side arms were most common with higher ranking men and heavy weapons crews. Even then the heavy weapons crews have more M1 Carbines than side arms.
I also love the use of the khaki USMC shirt which is great to wear for your early way kit. I dont know if you have one but also throw a P-41 jacket into the kit as well.
Everything else is great though and you have both kits very well put together with all the correct peices of equipment. Keep up the great work!

Welcome Andy! Glad to have you here. Im sure that each battalion had a demo team or somethinng close to it and I could surmise that the demo guys carried things like demo bags and such. From there Im not too sure what else.
Also I sold about 5 Enfields to a Brit paratrooper team that lives in Norway, you guys have a great airsofting community there.

Why use a Lugar as a base gun? That does not seem to be a good idea at all to use a Lugar as a base gun for this project. Try an AGM M-14 internals set, that would probably work better. This is the gun your talking about building right? TommyGunner

Here are pics that Viva supplied the guys over at the UK boards. These are direct from Viva themselfs as they created a user account on the UK boards and posted them there. www.vivaarms.com/sten8.jpgwww.vivaarms.com/sten9.jpgwww.vivaarms.com/sten10.jpgwww.vivaarms.com/sten11.jpgViva also had this to say, this was posted by Viva member Dapher on the UK boards. "Hi guys Please allow me to say something. We are VIVAARMS. First, I should thank you for your guys notice our production. We are mainly focus on develop and research WWII airsoftguns, we ¡¥d love to sharing much more good guns with yours. Yes, maybe our STEN is not most perfect, but we will try my best to do better and better. About the price, ours are more lower than Japanese ƒº For cost is high, our sell-price is a little high. We are totally different with CYMA or JINGGONG, we focus on some special guns and put our much time to creative these famous guns, not just copy from Japanese .this is the other reason about the price. The second we are surprised about one of exporters in China has some quarrels with Steve. I hope that is a misunderstanding. To be my honesty, we love to hear different voices from the world., it will be helped us do better than before. We need progress, all the company and factory need develop. Thank you for Steve¡¦s advise and suggestion, we will consider it sincerely. Third we hope stopping to quarrel about this thing. Either Chinese or English people, we are the people who loves wargame, love WWII airsoft guns, that¡¦s enough, please give some space let them do their own decisions. By the way ,we will continue to develop much more type of STEN ,and keeps getting better. If you have any questions or advising , please give me e-mail vivadap@hotmail.com ,forgive my poor English. thank you all." I persoanlly think that this Sten looks great! the video seems to contradict what Viva says so we will just have to wait until someone can write a full review on it. I hope for the best as should this turn out to be a good airsoft gun I would be delighted to buy one. TommyGunner

On the contrary I want the Viva Sten to do well. While I do offer a Sten its actually not an airsoft gun I enjoy building. They are expensive to make and getting the parts requires alot of searching. Building them also takes time away from building my Enfields and Springfields.
Should the Viva Sten do well I wont even offer my Stens anylonger as there will be no need to fill the gap becuase a manufacture capable of making them in large quantities will have done it for me.
Im just dissapointed that they cost as much as mine and are not even built to the highest of quality when I know it can be done, becuase I have done it lol.
I do hope that the price comes down though even if the quality does not improve.

Here is a very quick look at the Viva Sten made possible by "Enemy at the Gates" over on the UK WW2 Airsoft boards.
"The review was completed tonight but I can't upload it at the moment. It turns out that YouTube has been banned in China as of this week and it's going to take 24 hours to upload the 223meg file up to my private server. I leave for the UK tomorrow morning and will be in HK all day tomorrow, so I'll give it a bash from there. If not, then it's going to have to be Tuesday night UK time.....
A brief roundup however, is it is deffo not worth the money in my opinion. Serious issues with the trigger switch and ejection-port cover, cocking bolt. They have cheapened it's manufacture by using low quality switches and thin aluminium. For the dosh they are demanding, they could have microswitched it and put a steel ejection port cover in. More will be revealed in the vid...
Cheers Steve"
According the the posts on the UK WW2 airsoft forum, people in the UK paid 350 pounds for it thats about $500.

I say get some reproduction grips and clean the entire thing up.
Just take the metal bits and let them soak on rifle oil or regular motar oil. The oil will strip the rust off. The repaint the scabbard and keep it for your own collection.
