yup. all he needs is ed harris' bald spot! the swedish gebirgsjacke is done in light weight by a local tailor and is actually bearable in our tropical weather.

Cdi "I know everyone hates the Camo but for New England this stuff makes one blend in with the surroundings very well. Tactically speaking its perfect." Its not that we all hate camo, its that we all really love *history*. There is nothing wrong with camo items in context but unfortunately most guys deck themselves head to toe in it when the only really common item was a zeltbahn. Even in the waffen ss the vast majority of troops got feldgrau and camo smocks and helmet covers were either issued out per mission to assault and engineer troops or *very* late war to some frontline divisions. Usually camo didnt match and the OKW didnt even have names for the different patterns, (all the names like oakleaf, [lanetree etc are convenience terms used by post war collectors who need and crave 'order' to the Schutze they were just 'tiger jackets'. Certain things generally dont sit well together either. By the time peadot and sumpmuster were being issued (late 43/early 44 respectively) jackboots were fairly rare and the low boot more common, hence peadot uniforms with jackboots look odd. It probably did happen but the fact i've yet to see a pic of it means it was probably very very uncommon. Equally here helmet decals are usually not seen late war as they made really good aiming points. If its just for blatfest sunday skirmishing i can see why you want the most effective stuff and theres nothing wrong in that but on a forum full of wwii fanatics (many of whom pride themselves on the research done to get an authentic look) you can understand why no one gets excited by 'cherry picking' impressions that just go for the 'cool and effective' rather than what happened 60+ years ago. As said, not knocking your style just trying to explain why I personally (and i know its a view shared by many others) dispair when we see new players tricked out in matching full camo suits. The danger you see is that other new players use the internet and other players impressions as reference rather than reading books and before you know it you get a second wave of impressions based on 'creative' impressions of their peers Any ways... I do have to say your impressions do seem to be improving a lot so good stuff!

kingraptor141, Looking good. Just to let you know they don't make reproduction mess tins. I've seen some on ebay that are titled reproduction but they are really post-war mess tins that have been repainted. Just letting you know. ;D

No it attaches the same. There are a few different kinds of post-war mess tins. They all look very close to the originals. Here is an article on it. www.dererstezug.com/kochgeschirr.htm

Thanks for that, the mess kit is one thing, but what I REALLY need is the canteen (as it carries one of the more vital fluids for your body) any recommendations on getting them without spending over $30? Hell a camelbak with a bladder only runs about $25. And I've been looking, east or west German don't seem to be close enough.

I plan on getting a bunch of German and some Finnish stuff from Hiki. The Finn pants they got looks fine but I plan on getting a WWI German pair for my WWI impression so I'll use that for both. The rest of Finn stuff I will get from other vendors (like breadbag, mess kit,boots,ect.).I am using this stuff for airsofting so I'm not worried by Chinese made products.
