Jeebus...
There is a saying that most of you have heard I'm sure- I heard it from my boot camp DI and I will always remember the exact way he said it, and the exact reason
why he said it...
And a few of you fine young soldiers take me right back to that day with this crapola...
"You pukes could screw up a wet dream"\start rant-
I have just driven the entire length of Florida, from the top to the southern end of drivable pavement in the continental US of A...and back again in 2.5 days. It is certainly
not advisable for me to write this now, however, if I don't then it will drag on and on and this will fester, so here goes.
Spitfire-
Pull your head out recruit. Read the VERY CLEAR instructions and either comply in the spirit of the thread, as soooo very many people have and continue to do...
Or freaking don'tBut what NO ONE is interested in hearing is, your "opinion" on what again, are very clear and understandable reasons and rationale for what we here at WW2AA are doing in these image threads. And it makes absolutely no difference to me if you like it or not, if you think 'Guinness is picking on me' or whatever because,
These am the rules ok?
These have been the rules and way these threads are operated for a few years now, everybody seems to really get off on showing their impressions in as 'authentic' a way as possible so either join us, or.....
I think you know the rest of that...
.......................................................................................................
Now, was that harsh?[/b] Yes it was and I'm certain it will spark all kind of drama. Will 'ol Guinness get in trouble? Probably so as well, but trouble and I are old roommates...
Will Spitfire leave? Well I certainly hope not- but that is clearly his decision. I would hope that as I 'suggested', he reflects on the rules, the reason why those rules are in place, and maybe, just maybe that groups have rules, processes, ways of doing things because someone or a group of someones decided it works best that way.
Look- Here is why we did this. A few years ago we had one thread that had pics- and they were all over the place. Flaggrantly Wrong impressions mixed with high quality stuff, incorrect impressions but in awesome photographs, and the worst part, you kids would fill up the threads with "bla-bla-bla...wut am best WW2 gun" crazieness- We hated it. And when I say "We" I am referring to your hard-working, underrated and oft-maligned WW2AA Forum Monkies...er uh Staff. Yeah, it's us that get to clean up this place and make it the awesome WW2 Airsoft Association that it is.
So we set out to clean it up, organize it and make it the most presentable, the most fun to view and participate in thread for WWII Airsoft impressions around.
Honestly, at first the plan was to just clean the place up, separate the comments from the pics, and I can't believe I even have to go to this detail, but clearly there is an understanding gap somewhere, so bear with me... So after we did that, and began to put some structure around the Axis and Allied sections we noticed something interesting- We noticed that folks responded with some AMAZING images- images that clearly took time, effort, forethought, planning, care, and great attention to detail.
As all forums do, we have a 'hidden' Moderator forum where we talk about EVERYTHING concerning the board, and we all discussed the high quality impressions that we were seeing and we, as a group decided that we really, really, really wanted to encourage and continue this trend- so it was decided to have a 'High-Quality' and a 'Working' section where Soldiers could display their hard work.
As far as the 'picture-nazism' well..yeah...that goes right along with what I said before about the level of quality that folks were presenting in their images- Initially we DID NOT say "the image has to be" this way or that way, WW2AA members brought that to the table (so get mad at them whynot?
) But, as we saw more and more of these planned, perfect, almost 'movie scenes' displayed we agreed, "This is what we want"
in the Stitch-Knot-See threadSo we as a group, as the HQ General's Staff of WW2AA decided that we wanted to promote, encourage and well, really only see the best of the best images in the Stitch-KS thread. And that means: edge-to-edge, corner-to-corner, accuracy of impression, accuracy of mood, accuracy of 'feeling' of the image. And the real bottom line is, we didn't start this- our members stepped up their game and brought these images to us, we are simply honoring their hard work and efforts by
not diluting or allowing their work to be diminished by shoddy, uninspired photographs.
And that is the fable of 'How the Stitch-Knot-See Thread came to be. Great ain't it?
.........................................................................................................
Now, just a couple more points to this already marathon rant- But it's all connected, so....
Some may be asking "Why go off on poor lil Spitfire? what's he ever done to you dude?"
Nothing of course, I don't really know him other than a few posts- But what I have read and heard is, he feels unfairly bullied by me.
Moi?? Mr. Sunshine? yeah, I know its hard to believe...
So this brings us to a couple of 'new' housekeeping points- and these ARE NOT specific to Spitfire or anyone in particular, they are 'universal'
>>If you have an issue with someone on the Forum, any of the Mod team, or me as is often the case here recently lol, you will need to engage them directly from here out. I won't be mending fences for CharlieNovember or Adler, and if you send them a PM about me, they are going to tell you the same thing- "Talk to Guinness" This isn't your parents house- You ain't going to get any respect here for the old "Well Mom said no, so I'll just ask Dad" BS- We are a TEAM and we watch each others backs and yes Virginia....we most certainly talk about you knuckleheads...(but only when your being most knucklishious ;-) )
>>I bla-bla-bla, I talk, I rant and I write epic-poem posts, but underneath all that I am a reasonable guy. Really. If you have a prob with me, think I'm a jerk, have a question or suggestion, PM me- I always try my best to and will continue to do the right thing.
>>Thread hijacking, being argumentative, or just generally being an asshat from here out gets warning points and could lead to being asked to 'take a timeout' from the forum. Bottom line: We Ain't Playing.
>>We aren't 'tooting our horns', or boasting, or taking ANYTHING for granted, but listen- Sam, Zach, Alex, Jack and every last one of the WW2AA Mods have WORKED THEIR BUTTS off to make this place
THE reference site for WW2 Airsoft- Period. You all know this and so do we- There is no need to kiss anyones posterior,
if you don't like it, don't like this site, don't like a Moderator, Me, or another member.... Tough. Either deal with it in an adult manner, or take it outside....and I KNOW you know what I mean by that.
Your poor attitude will not be missed by us or any of our long time members.
>>Our Staff bends wayyyy over backwards to be reasonable, rational, and respectful of all our membership- I'm old and cranky and I don't play that usually- I learned from my Dad and from the Military that is a waste of time and as we ALL do this in our spare time out of love for the game, the history and yeah, all you goofballs too, it just isn't reasonable that we have to well....no better way to say it but "babysit" you and you're egos sometimes- it's not fair, it's not right and it won't be happening going forward.
"Take our balls and go home" Well, I really really really hope NO ONE does that. There has been a little tension in some area HQ's recently admittedly, I don't know if it's cabin fever, rebellion against authority, or just men acting like kids, but you know who you are- We've discussed it, taken a vote, and while we always strive for a more 'perfect union' we realize sometimes you have to say adios before some realize how good they had it at home...
Carry on...
