Yes well... ;D Here's another easy one (Vietnam era): The 1st Infantry Div. (aka the Big Red One) officially arrived in Vietnam on October 2nd, 1965. By the time it departed Vietnam, the division had taken many casualties, with 3,146 KIA, 18,019 WIA, and had earned approx. 11 Medal's of Honor. What was the division's official departure date?

During Operation Stosser in the Battle of the Bulge, Kampgruppe Von der Heydte jumped with two men who were not fallschirmjagers, what were they (unit and purpose)?
Note: By not being fallschirmjagers, I mean they were never in a fallschirmjager unit, NOT that they had not been jump trained (they hadnt) - the kampgruppe jumped with men who were fallschirmjagers, but had never been jump trained.

early mediterainian culturs used it to as well as the asians The swastika was an Indian symbol rather then an Native American symbol... If you look it also switches directions they aren't exactly pointing in the same direction ones clockwise the other is counter clockwise. Doc Butzen

Ok, thanks for the input, but ya kinda see that we have a flow going here yes? So jumping in well after the fact and not really contributing anything new to the knowledge base.... -T-34's Adler already said, you added the /85 part- great...Show of hands here for how many people even knew there was a /85 edition?....yeah, thought so -'rolling cross' discussion, yeah a few of us chimed in on that one too. even me- But figuring out that many cultures used the same symbol....well its a cross with extra 'arms' on it right? Cave men probably actually 'designed' that with sticks in the dirt millions of years ago- no big whoop there. So in keeping with polak's original concept, lets try to keep the flow going and avoid going back to answer something that was already done before, ok? Thanks......now proceed ;D

Nope, AFAIK that was just a rumor.
Ironically, the Stosser drop was probably the worst para drop in FJ history...but it was probably the most successful. It tied up thousands of Allied troops for days searching for FJ and Skorzeny's commandos.

You mean the 2 members of the Brandenburg Kommando unit assigned to aid in the capture of the road leading to the Elsenborn-Malmedy area toward Eupen for the armored spearhead of the SS Division? Or do you mean some of the 300 dummies meant to confuse the Americans?.

Closer, but they were not Brandenburgers.
Have I stumped everyone?

Two men from Peipers element assigned to capture a critical bridge at La Gleize and serve as ground guides. Of course I'm talking out of my ass at this point. Incidently I think the jump at Eban Emmael at the beginning of the war was the FJs finest hour.

It is, the Heyde jump was part of the Ardennes Offensive. The FJ commander complained that the mission had less then a 20% chance of success and was promptly told, if true, that placed it at a higher lieklihood of success then the entire operation!
Still looking for the answer to this question.

3 12th SS (Hitler Jugend) members jumped, they were Sturmbannfuhrer Harold Etterich and two enlisted men, Rudi Rosenauer and Hermann Leonhard. They were radio men, and this was apparently their first jump!
Imagine having your first jump be a combat jump, at night!
So who goes now?
