As Insterburger put it, it's just a way to get an estimate of what people need and a rough estimate of how much gear people will be bringing. We want anyone, who doesn't have a fully complete kit or impression to be as fully loaded out as possible. And, like said, we can also see how many tents will be set up and if and who will have to share a tent. I myself am bringing my shelter halves to make one complete tent, which me and my friend will be using.
Also, please, invite as many people as you guys can! Bring friends, whether it be from work, school, whatever. If you know someone who is seriously interested and willing to give World War II Airsoft a try let them know. This event is not only for us guys to have fun, but to also get more people interested in this hobby!

Update: I've received some notifications on how some people are having issues with the Player Info Sheet for this event. I've talked with Evan and we've concluded that the sheet does not NEED to be filled out in order to attend and play. HOWEVER, it is HIGHLY, and I emphasize HIGHLY, recommended to fill it out if possible. This sheet, like previously stated, will definitely help sort out many of the logistical aspects of this event. Some of which include: Player Count, Loaning Gear (Both if you are loaning or need to loan something), and who is sleeping in what and where.
Also, my offer stands, if anyone is having trouble downloading the document, message me, I'll gladly share you a Google Version or write down a hand-written copy if needed. Thanks!
-Matt

I personally cannot, however I really hope someone contacts you. The more people the better, especially if you can get some of your friends involved. For anyone who is interested, the train station in Berlin is on Depot Road, and is only about a 30 minute drive from the store and field.
Also, can I get a count of how many people submitted forums already, and or if you are having a problem submitting the event player forum.
Edit: Also, in case it wasn't previously said, if you have any friends or guests coming along please make sure they submit and email a forum as well. If you know anyone who is coming, or who wants to come, who doesn't have an email, contact me.

Important Update: To make this event run as smoothly as possible, Evan, one of the organizers, has made a player sheet. This sheet MUST be completed and turned in prior to May 24th in order to participate at the event. Inside this document you will be able to list what faction you wish to play as, what you wish your job to be, what gear you need to loan, what gear you wish to loan to others, tenting ,and much more. PLEASE fill this out! Here is the link to the Facebook page, in which you can download the document: www.facebook.com/groups/1078741172153134/1081834715177113/?notif_t=group_activity***If you need a Google Version of this document please message me and I will try to share it with you as soon as possible. From there all you have to do is copy and paste it into Gmail and send it off.***

I'll be bringing all my personal equipment and my two recently bought shelter halves. I also may bring my two 1942 dated LIFE magazines.
Side Note:
Evan, who is not apart of this forum, and to my knowledge is our only British reenactor, is trying to get a British tent for display as well.
I also highly recommend every one try to at least bring a shelter halve or pup tent. Having a "Tent City" would look very cool and definitely turn some heads the following morning when the GZA regulars arrive. Maybe, just maybe, we should have a morning formation.
Edit:
If anyone has a 48 Star U.S Flag that would be great. We can either make a makeshift flagpole, if the flagpole is absent, or tie it between some tents.

Update I: Partisan and Resistance Fighter impressions are allowed.
Update II: Just for some clarification, although this event is structured around the timeline of 1944/45, you may bring any accurate WWII impression/kit even if it is based before these dates 1944/45. Again, so long as it pertains to the MTO/ETO.
***However, although we STRONGLY prefer for this to be a ETO/MTO event, if you only have a period correct PTO kit you may bring that as well.***

I'll try to make it with whoever else I can bring with whatever loaner gear I can. So, this is ANY Allied units vs ANY Axis units? It seems like this is a general scenario, but just want to be sure that the scenario doesn't set what units we can and cannot portray. I just recognized that this morning actually. As it stands, I am pretty sure with 99% confidence that this is a European Theater of War (ETO) & Mediterranean Theater of War (MTO) only event. So as long as your impression is authentic, and existed on either front between 44-45 it's okay to bring.
This means, but is not limited to:
U.S, U.K, U.S.S.R, Italy (Both Fascist Italy and Italian Co-Belligerent Army), Germany...etc.
Partisans & Resistance Fighters: I am not sure if we will be allowing Partisans and Resistance fighters for this event. I will bring it up however, and get back to you guys.

Nice Jerry! I hope to see you guy soon. I will be bringing my camera to document the event as well. Also, I just changed some of the field rules to include what is needed for eye pro, in case you didn't notice.

The next WWII Airsoft event in the North East.
Where: Ground Zero Airsoft, Wolcott, CT.
Sign ups at store: 1254 Wolcott Road, Wolcott, CT Field location: 243 Wolcott Road, Terryville, CT
When: May 30th-May 31st. Starting at 10AM Saturday, lasting overnight, ending 5PM Sunday.
Cost: $25 per person (1 Day); $40 per person (Whole Weekend)
Recon Report:
This event will be an over night game at GZA. The first day, which starts at 11AM, will be just us WW2 players and then on the second day we will play alongside the GZA regulars. The purpose of this event is to have fun, learn about history, and share our hobby and passion. You must sign in at the store, pay your fee, then head down to the field. We will also be doing a static display, so please bring your tentage/shelter halves/misc. equipment if possible.
Supplies:
We will be staying out overnight so bring everything you would need for a multiple day event. This includes, but is not limited to: -Water (Preferably in a period correct canteen) *** -Food (Preferably in period correct packaging) *** -Shelter (Preferably period correct tenting/shelter halves/zeltbahns) *** - Extra socks (GZA has swamps, creeks and streams. You may get wet, bring extra socks.) - Ammo (Bring extra BBs, you'll be swinging double the plastic you normally would. GZA also has some thick foliage, you may need heavy BBs.) - Extra Uniforms (It's getting hotter as the days go by, you may want to bring heavy weight and light weight uniforms, such as both Wools and HBTs.) - Extra Weapons (You're Thompson or MP40 may break down or die out, bring extra firearms.) - Friends (Or strangers, I don't discriminate. Seriously though, we want to expand this hobby, bring those that may be interested. Some of us are bringing extra weapons and kit, more about that below.)
***: These requirements do not need to be period correct to attend and participate. These are essential to your survive, but like said, it is preferred to have them be authentic.
Uniform Requirements: This is a late war scenario, so 1944-1945. So long as your kit/impression is accurate, it can consist of anything from 1944-45. We want this event to be fun and raise interest in our hobby. I'm not going to go around and say M1938 leggings and service shoes aren't accurate (That's what I'll be wearing), or that fixed bale M1s aren't accurate. So long as it existed and was used between 44-45 it's okay to use.
Weapon Requirements: It must be WWII. Please no unmodified M14s acting as Garands.
Loaning Uniforms and Gear:
Like said previously, I highly recommend bringing extra weapons, uniforms, and equipment. I myself will be, as I have a few friends, who are without kit, that are interested. This way we can fully equip any converts or walk-ons who'd like to get a better understanding on what it's like to play WWII Airsoft. I will also try to organize who lends what and from who, however, it is up to the loaner to remember their equipment. If you need a piece of kit, contact me, or one of the guys on our event Facebook page (www.facebook.com/groups/1078741172153134/) , we might be able to work something out.
Field Rules: Guns over 400 FPS have a minimum engagement rule (I'll figure out what that is.) Guns over 500 FPS may not be allowed (I'll get back to you on that, I may be wrong.) Those under 18 must wear full face protection (Mesh Mask, Full Seal Goggles/Paintball style Mask) Those 18 and older just need Full Seal Eye Protection.
*GZA has rental masks and mesh masks and goggles for sale if needed.
For more info go to our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/groups/1078741172153134/permalink/1080324701994781/
I hope to game will you all very soon, Sincerely, Matt.

I think getting an updated Facebook page would be great, even if it's only dedicated to the players of the North East, though hopefully you could make some of our Midwest allies admins to the page as well so we could administer double the content and attract double the amount of players we would otherwise. In other news the GZA event that was discussed earlier now has an official date and price. The Date: May 30th-31st The Price: $25 per person (normal GZA price). Synopsis: The event will be a WWII only player event from 3:00PM EST starting on the 30th, then mixing into a normal GZA Sunday skirmish game the following day. The GZA guys are also letting us camp out in the parking lot, right by the field, so we can play overnight and so we can also set up static displays like you would see in a WWII reenactment. I think this will be a great way to recruit some people to the field of WWII Airsoft and in general be a fun time to meet some new people and bring out your tents and other equipment. I am so happy to see this! Yesterday I went to GZA (in my WW2 Impression) and managed to find a couple other WWII airsoft enthusiasts. I pointed them to this forum, but currently we are trying to start at WWII event down here at GZA. We talked to the managers of the field (Bernie and Jolly) and then said they'd be down with it so long as enough people showed up. At the very least we could, like said above, cause a great turnout with our WWII kits and try to recruit while having a blast! Here's the link to the Facebook discussion page on this: www.facebook.com/groups/1078741172153134/
If the link doesn't work just look up "Second World War GZA Players".
Edit: Also anything before June, or at least before the very end of June would be great for that's when I ship to BCT. This sounds pretty good. One question, What kind of event would this be? I know from past experiences, these are usually 10-4 type events that Jolly does. Would this be that kind of thing? It's OK if it is, especially if the main purpose is to recruit new blood for a more all out full day or weekend event there. I joined your facebook group and would really like to learn more. Migs We aren't sure yet ourselves, we just made the group over the weekend. The original group, when we discussed the idea, would ideally like to do a dedicated WWII event, with nothing but period kits, essentially like the events made by the WW2AA. However, like said previously that is ideal, and I know how costly and time consuming something like that would be. For that to happen we would need a big turnout, probably around 30-40 players at minimum. If something like that turns out to not be possible, then the standard 10-4 style game that is normally played at GZA would be our next best bet. We would most likely mingle with the regulars there, and try to raise some interest into our hobby. Also, thanks for joining the group! Feel free to ask any questions there as well. Also, the facebook group name has changed to Second World War & Historical GZA Players, for those who plan on joining.

Thanks for the kind words from all, and Migs is right that we need to get a game going in these parts ASAP. It's a bigger blow for me to lose the venue long-term than the individual game, and while we can fall back on GZA it has its drawbacks and I'm already trying to think out of the box to look into alternate venues in Connecticut. WWII Airsoft WILL come back to CT, and soon.
I really hope to see you guys here soon. Lack of transportation out of state has really barred me from leaving CT, effectively preventing me from going to any NY or Penn based events. Best of luck on future endeavors.

Like I said to the event being held in Woodstock, if it's being held in CT I should be able to come. I have a full U.S kit, and frequent GZA often. I love their field, and I am currently trying to get some of my friends to convert to the WWII side of things. Unless anything unexpected comes up, count me in.
Edit: read the replies, even if it's not at GZA, I still will try to attend. Like I said in the Woodstock thread, and above, so long as nothing comes up I should be able to attend.

I was wondering if anyone on the forum had the M1903A3 from G&G, as I have been looking into the rifle recently, and was wondering: is it worth the money? Is it skirmishable? And, can you reload the weapon with the magazine still inside the rifle, with the bolt back (like the real steel version)? Or do you have to take the magazine out each time to reload?

Send your letter to this museum. The man in charge is also on these boards (Gordak) His name is Sam Johnson. Great guy and would be a big asset for you. Here is their link; www.usmilitarymuseum.org/As far as helping out, depending on the location and times I think me and my older son may be able to help you out. Just post more details when you get them. Good luck, Migs Thanks for the reply Migs! However, due to the time constraints of the film, and lack of input from other reenactment groups we've contacted, our team has decided to abandon the "large scale" film idea. We are still shooting a WWII film but it will be on a much smaller, more intimate and character orientated, scale. So, I do not know if we will need any extras as I have enough equipment to outfit the student cast that's available for the film. But, I will get in touch with the director and ask if he does indeed want any more cast members, beyond our own, and will get back to you.

Being a part of this community has shown me that our WWII interests aren't only limited to WW2AA Events or Reenactments. Right now, I am currently taking part in the Connecticut 84 Hour Film Challenge, and our production team has decided to tackle a WWII period film. And, we've decided to try to make this as ambitious, and authentic, as possible, for a student film. Which is where you all fine gentlemen come in. We need help, as sadly there is not a large following of WWII reenactors currently in CT, nor do I simply have the supplies to equip every member of our production team/student body for this film. Now, if any of you are like me, which I assume many of you are, you probably have, from childhood, always wanted to take place in a WWII film, even as an extra, just to say, "Hey! I was apart of that!", or "Look there I am!", to some buddies. Well, now I offer you guys the chance. We may not be as big as Hollywood productions like Band of Brothers, The Pacific, or Fury, but we desperately need extras and I felt that I needed not to look much farther for those who might be interested. I also figured this would be a great for another two reasons: 1) I would be able to meet all of you; and 2) WE, as a community, may be able to get more people interested in World War Two orientated Airsoft/Reenacting. Below is the letter we came up with, and will be sending to other potential parties, such as Museums and Reenactment Groups. If you'd like to participate, or if you have any questions, please feel free to comment and or contact our instructor, whose contact information, plus more general information about the film, is included inside the letter below. Thank you all for your reading this, Sincerely, Matthew1943. Our Letter:Dear WWII Enthusiasts and Reenactors, East Haven High School Creative Media Club is participating in the 2014-15 CT 84-Hour Film Challenge. This contest challenges Connecticut high school media students to complete an original 3 minute film in only 84 hours. East Haven has won this statewide competition twice. This year, we are producing a WWII period film (European Theatre, late stage post Normandy). We are seeking interested reenactors who possess any authentic United States Army outfits/personal equipment to be cast as extras. We also request, that if possible, you bring any and all extra authentic WWII equipment (web gear, helmets, boots, packs, ammo belts, etc), or authentic reproductions, that can be used in the film as props or to equip other extras in the film. Only NON-FUNCTIONING weapons will be allowed on set. Our goal is to try to be as authentic as possible and we would love your support. We have a limited window of time to complete our filming for this challenge. We anticipate filming predominantly on Saturday, December 06, 2014 in the daytime (exact times/location to be determined). If you are interested, please contact our instructor Jay Miles at jmiles@east-haven.k12.ct.us to confirm your participation. Fury is coming out soon, that may pique some interest. I need to talk to a guy in my unit who may have a field to develop in NE CT. Hopefully we can get things to the point where we can play there by spring. Will most definitely keep everyone posted. Matthew, keep in touch. We always need more Germans, so feel free to PM whenever your friends are ready to get the ball rolling and I will be more than happy to help them with advice and guidance in building their kits. The only problem I see with Fury, with WWII airsoft in mind, is that the movie revolves around a tank crew. Which is great for a movie premise but surely all the main characters will be using M1/M1A1 Thompsons, and M3 Grease Guns. We may get a few guys interested in being just a regular infantryman, either German or American, because either a supporting character is one or from some of the background shots of the film, but I doubt anyone of that crew will be using an M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, or M1903. But, then again I guess you have to start somewhere, right? Though, on a more positive note, I did see that Brad Pitt had an STG44, and most of the Germans appear to be using Kar98k's so at least there may be less MP40s running around.

Atending events at GZA is do-able, its just holding our own private events at GZA thats the killer. They require upfront costs to cover their losses for the lack of other public players attending. Its a much larger sum per person for say 25 compared to a regular day of 50-70 paying attendees. If we could find another cheaper location in CT, or just manage to grow our numbers of attendees to diminish the cost per person for a GZA event. Id be up for promoting at a big GZA event in the future though! I'm trying to get more people interested down here. I think the main reason people aren't interested in WWII airsoft at the moment is because of the lack of popular WWII movies and games (such as Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, The Thin Red Line, The Pacific). Plus, not as many companies manufacture historically accurate gear/weapons for a reasonable price. Compared to the surge of anything and everything in M81 Woodland, ACUPAT (UCP), MARPAT, or MultiCam.

Mostly in New York, although we may be expanding back into Connecticut (right next door). As for weapons, we would want you to bear arms as well as a camera, but any time you can make it over, you'd be free to use whatever you like from my arsenal. Just bring whatever gear you can safely and easily carry, and we'll fill in the rest! I'd love it if you guys could come to Connecticut more! I have yet to participate in a WWII event, however when I went to GZA last weekend in my M1942 kit (Yes, I do Airborne, but I also have a regular infantry kit) I got nothing but nice remarks, and even a few people said they'd be interested in doing WWII themed loadouts. I'm sure if more WWII airsofters came down, the more would be interested. A side note: seems to be more so the people who haven't put much or any money in modern style loadouts, are more interested in doing WWII themed, compared to those with have full modern kits already. And, I've even gotten some of my friends interested, though they will need more reinforcement, two even said they'd run a German kit.

That is also a very interesting way to organize it. I can see what you mean about the confusion that just U.S vs U.S would cause, I thought that it would be a bigger turnout as all you would need is a U.S kit, even if it's partially incomplete. And, U.S kits tend to be less expensive than German ones. Plus, if most WWII U.S airsofters on this form are like me, they have multiple U.S kits depending on what unit they are impersonating. I have a two US Airborne kits, one with M1942s and the other with M1943s, plus I have an almost complete regular US infantry kit. I'm just missing the service shoes and leggings, which for now I substitute with my Para boots. So, we could also outfit any newcomers or those with incomplete kits for the event.
Edit: To remedy the possible confusion when setting up the teams maybe a random question could be set to see if any U.S troops are actually U.S troops, just like the real G.I's did during the time of this operation. They would ask about baseball teams, city names, ect. Just a thought.

Hello, I am new to the forums, and while I have come on this site periodically I have yet to see anyone mention Operation Greif. Operation Greif was one of Hitler's last ditch efforts to halt the Allied advance towards and into Germany during the Battle of the Bulge. Hitler ordered SS Standartenfuhrer (Colonel) Otto Skorzeny to create a unit comprised of German soldiers wearing British and American uniforms, and to send them into the allied lines to cause confusion and disarray. Skorzeny selected men from the SS Panzer Brigade 150, and equipped them with U.S uniforms and weapons. Knowing that there is, at least in the U.S, a sizeable gap in number between the amount of U.S impressions and German impressions; I believe an event like this come winter time would do great for a turnout. And, in general just make a great battle. Anyone with a U.S uniform could attend, and either be "conscripted" into Skorzeny's brigade or fight alongside the "real" U.S Army. And, German uniforms could still be worn to simulate the other German units fighting during the Battle of the Bulge. So, although it would be predominantly U.S vs "U.S", at least is would be for the most part authentic. And, especially because the majority of the Skorzeny's men, if not all of them to my knowledge, knew English. So call outs wouldn't be inauthentic either. Maybe I'm thinking about this to much, what are your thoughts? (Sorry in advance if this is the wrong place to post this.)
