I went to Evike today to check on the status of the BAR and PPSH, and noticed the price of the BAR went up to $300! Still due out 4/15.
I wonder if this affects those of us who pre-ordered??

I doubt it, but i'm sure we are the ones responsible for the price going up, they probably didn't expect as many preorders as they got.

I have two enroute and am as anxious as I have ever been for an airsoft gun. This one has been on my list for a very long time. Incidently the human face protective mask looks cool although I sspect it would block ehaled breath and fog up your goggles or shooting glasses.
I am a fan of full face masks as explaining the multiple Bee stings to the face on Monday is always kind of awkward but I hate the look of paintball masks.

I called Evike, they said it does not effect anyone who bought the gun before the time they changed the price.

Funny, when my friend first started getting into airsoft, he offered to buy a gun for me for Christmas.... knowning nothing about airsoft he said, think of any gun you might want and there is probally an airsoft version. First thing that came to mind... BAR. Sadly he would not buy me a VFC BAR. I'm very excited about the BAR. A friend has a VFC and I absolutly love it. I hope this one is half as awesome as the VFC.

There definitely should be an upside to executing a pre-order (other than being the first to get it) I'm glad to see they are honoring the initial price and even with this price bump feel the weapojn represents a heck of deal. The package with the bi pod, carry handle and spare mag is a great package. Hopefully spare mags will be both available and reasonable. For a squad automatic weapon and the role it plays I'm even okay with mid caps!
When I first got into airsoft (Early 80s) the only BAR that came out was a gas powered JAC gun with an external gas source. You literally routed a gas line to a large pouch with a small tank in it. The gun was $2,500.00 Needless to say that was out of my budget. The VFC first came out in a CnC version at $1500 and later dropped to $900 for the non CnC edition. It is without a doubt the most impressive airsoft gun I have ever seen. I echo Haireyapples sentiments and will be delighted if this copy is half as nice. At 1/3rd the price with tons of extras it should do extremely well and I suspect they'll be hard pressed to keep them in stock.
Expect to see US forces all pretty much armed with Thompsons and BARs. (Ranger unit perhaps?)

Actually much better than US forces armed with Thomsons and buirlap wrapped AKs and M16s which is more like what we've endured for far too long. Indeed there was airsoft in the 80s. The guns were an amagamation of shell ejecting springers and gas guns with seperate gas supplies. They were not practical for skirmishing in the current sense and were pretty much a Japanese thing. Aegs and dramatically improved gas systems really changed everything and allowed it to become more mainstream.

I started collecting 'replica' weapons from ads in the back of my dad's Playboy magazines back in the mid 70's- They were sold by this place in Alexandria Va. called 'The Collectors Armoury'- I believe they are still in business lol. -Zinc metal 1911 Governments, Lugers, etc- I think the first Luger I bought was $89 bucks, all metal with working parts.
Then came the PFC "plug-fire cap-guns", then around 1981 Daisy started re-selling Japanese built Marushins under the name 'Daisy Soft-Air' guns- They all held plastic rounds and you inserted the bb in the end- they all worked off springs. I had the S&W 4504(?), a very cool Uzi, Luger, Colt Python and they even made a Ruger Mini-14/AC-556.
I knew then that I would collect and own what we now know as Airsoft guns forever, but I never imagined we would be where we are today with the variety and availability we have- I thought for sure those namby-pamby ATF and Feds would never let us have the 'toys' we really wanted!

The $270.00 with the spare mag, bi pod and carry handle was the intial offering price. I guess I missed the sling portion. I sure hope this come this month as promised (over a month later than originally announced but that is not a surprise to me at all.)

And probably another 2 months of waiting for whoever orders now. I'm sure the pre-orders on this thing are so backed up that it will take another 2 or 3 months for them to have it in regular stock, if they ever do.

A local retailer is lamenting the fact that all of his Chinese inventory is way way behind with no updated word on receipt. He has never been so low on inventory and says it's like that all over. It sounds like its more than the New Years break. Perhaps a repercusion from the raids way back when finally starting to hit home. I'm unable at this time to get my usual order of Cyma M14s as my supplier is out of inventory and the clips are now once again unavailable. Kind of frustrating. I'm sure it will all sort out fairly quickly.
The season is rapidly approaching so naturally I'm anxious to get my orders filled.

All exports from China are falling behind due to a lack of shipping capacity. During the thick of the recession many of the ships were taken offline to save costs. It's taking time to add back the capacity as the economy improves.

Airsoft products are trucked into Hong Kong, how come therre is a shortage here as well? I was at Cop9gun last Saturday and I've never seen it so bare. They still had a Sten MKII and an MP44 in stock though
